A.N.: Hey everybody, what's up? This is going to be chapters 6 so I hope you enjoy it.
By the way, so far, one person has told me a pairing for Kagura. So, unless other people tell me what pairings she will be paired with Kouga. Thanks Kellybug for the idea. Now, on with the chapter!
Chapter 6
Both Mrs. Higurashi and Souta jaws dropped at Kanna's question. Who the heck doesn't know about school? Mrs. Higurshi stood up and took Kanna by the hand into the living room. Then, she launched a big question at her.
"Are you sure you don't know what school is?
Kanna looked straight into her eyes and said, "I am sure."
"Okay, why don't I give you a quick run through school and you should be ready by then. Is that okay?" Mrs. Higurashi asked in a questioning tone.
"Yes, Mrs. Higurashi."
So, with Mrs. Higurashi's help, they managed to tell her what to do in school and what not to do. It wasn't that much hard and it was only a few minutes before school began. So, Kanna got up and went to her room. She changed into a plain white t-shirt and shorts that also were white.
She casually walked down the stairs where Mrs. Higurashi gave her a backpack and some books and took her to Souta.
"Now Souta, you take Kanna to school and she can introduce herself. Oh, and I signed up Kanna as a Higurashi."
Souta nodded and motioned for her to follow him. As soon as they had stepped outside, Kanna smelt something terrible in the air.
'This air is disgusting' thought Kanna as she tried to push down her headache.
"What's wrong Kanna?" Souta asked as he noticed she look a little nauseous.
"It's this air, it's disgusting."
"Oh, that's probably because in this time, our air is not very good."
"What do you mean by 'our time'. Am I not still in my original time."
"I don't think so. Your clothes were to old fashion so I'm sure that you are from the feudal era." Souta exclaimed with his eyes closed.
"Higurashi, you had better look where you are goi-."But it was to late. He had walked straight into a pole. Souta rubbed his face a little and said he was okay.
When they neared the school, Kanna was amazed (but did not show it) that there were so many children. She had never seen so many kids in one spot.
"Come with me, we have to go to the front office."
Souta grabbed her arm and raced towards the school. The school was pretty big and it was another fascinating thing for Kanna. When they reached the office, the secretary was talking on the phone. She laughed into the phone, almost spilling her cup of coffee on the papers at her desk.
"Excuse me, Mrs. Shiguro. I brought Kanna to you." Souta said as he shoved Kanna in front of him.
"Ah yes, Higurashi Kanna. Say, are you Souta's sister?" asked Mrs. Shiguro, her purple glasses slid down a little to show her piercing green eyes.
"Umm, no she isn't. She-she's my cousin! Yes, that's it. She's my cousin!" studdered Souta as he yelled the last part out loud. Mrs. Shiguro arched her eyebrow, wondering why he sounded nervous.
"Well Kanna, if you follow me I'll give you a quick tour of the school."
Quickly grabbing her hand, she ran off with her.
Souta looked up at the clock and realized that the bell was going to ring. So he dashed of into the classroom. Spotting his seat, he sat down as the children came in. Loud shouts and laughing filled the classroom. But as soon as the teacher came in, everybody quickly sat down and stayed quiet.
What was really annoying about the teacher was that he always repeated his name before beginning class.
"Okay class. My name is Mr. Dioten. I hope you get it through your thick skulls and remember this. I hope you remembered that today is our spelling test and you had better of studied." Said the teacher in a cold tone.
As soon as he said the last sentence, half of the class groaned, including Souta. The class began the test, at the end of it; a knock at the door was heard...
Back at the hall:
The secretary pointed at the library and droned on about how you can find tons of information and how it was the best one in Japan.
"Ne (No), it isn't."
The secretary spun around and arched her eyebrow again.
"Now, how may I ask, do you know that?" the secretary asked with a slightly snobbish voice
"How would you know if this library was the best? Can I not say my own opinion? Besides, half of that place is empty." Stated Kanna in her most deepest monotone voice.
"Fine, lets just continue the tour. "
She showed her the bathrooms, playgrounds, other classes and finally reached there destination.
"Okay Kanna, this will be your new classroom."
The secretary knocked on the door and the door sprung open.
"This must be our new student. Good..." the teacher said as he brought her forward.
"Class, we have a new student. Her name is Kanna Higurashi."
A loud crash was heard in the back. Kanna looked back to see Souta with his back on a chair that had fallen down.
"Higurashi Souta, please do not disturb my class, and since you seemed surprised by our new student, then she shall sit beside you." The teacher sneered at him and Souta felt anger pulsate through his body but suppressed it. He didn't want to look like a idiot in front of the class and Kanna.
Kanna sat down and they began their lesson.
Recess Time:
The golden rays of sunshine and being able to stretch out his arms and legs helped Souta out perfectly. So much tests and homework made his mind shake. He turned to Kanna who didn't seem to mind the air anymore. What amazed him the most was that Kanna knew almost everything in all the lessons? Yet she has never been to school. He didn't really mind much. It just confused him a lot.
"So Higurashi, what do now that we are at this recess?" Kanna asked as she moved to sit at the base of the tree.
"We just play or rest or talk." Souta said in a bored tone. Just when he was about to fall asleep, he heard Kanna say something odd.
"How do we play?" asked Kanna in a slightly curious tone.
"WHHHAAAATTT!" yelled Souta as he shot up. He didn't seem to mind that nearly everybody was staring at him.
"I said, 'how do you play'."
"I know that! But, haven't you ever had fun before?" Souta was extremely confused. How could she not know how to play?
"No, I believe I have never had fun or played before."
"Then I'll show you then."
Without alarm, he grabbed Kanna by the arm and took her to the dodge ball wall where other kids were playing.
"Here is where we play dodge ball. You throw the ball at the person at the wall and they have to dodge it."
"What is the point of throwing something at a person"
"Well, it's just a game!" exclaimed Souta as he gave her a ball.
"Go on. It's your turn."
"Do I just throw it?"
The boy at the wall was currently pissed off right now. Why the heck were they taking so long?
"Hey little girl. What's wrong? Can't throw?" the boy taunted her as Kanna felt her anger rise. She took the ball and launched it at the boys face. He did not expect it and received the full blow. Compliments of Kanna the Albino.
Holding his face, he yelled,
"Damn you, Higurashi. Just watch your backs you two."
He walked off into the school to go to the nurse's office. Souta paled a little and started to stutter incoherent words. Kanna looked at him and asked,
"Was I supposed to do that?"
Souta groaned and answered,
"That was Kurato. He's the school bully and he's going to kill us." Souta put his hand on his forehead and sighed. "Nice shot though."
"Thanks. But, why don't I just take his soul?"
"We can't do that or we'll be murderers. I don't wanna go to jail! Wait a minute, did you just say you can steal souls?"
"Yes, it's my ability. So, if I can't steal his soul then what is it that are we going to do?"
"We'll just try to avoid him and make a break for it to get home."
Kanna was a little unsure of this. She could easily kill him but Souta said that they would go to jail and it seemed that this 'jail' was supposed to be frightening.
'Then I'll just over power him then.' Thought Kanna as the bell rang and they walked back into the school.
After School:
Souta dragged his backpack out of the hall and out to the front of the school. Their teacher had assigned them five different things for homework. Souta glanced at Kanna who didn't seem to mind eight pounds of homework. Souta walked up to Kanna and asked if she knew what the plan was.
"Yes, we avoid Kurato and then we run like cowards." Kanna responded as she snorted at him. She had other plans for this guy. Kanna laughed evilly and all Souta could do was stare.
"Where did you learn to laugh like that?" he asked as he pushed open the door.
"Years of practice." Kanna stated while rolling her eyes.
As soon as they had stepped outside Souta gulped. Kurato and his friend Sukay were standing beside a cherry blossom tree, their eyes full of malice.
"Great plan Higurashi. Did you ever think that they were going to expect us."
"Nope." Was Souta's reply as he began to sweat. This was not supposed to happen.
Kanna stared at him and calmly asked him,
"How come they aren't attacking us right now then?"
"They'll get suspended. Meaning that they will get in big trouble. He'll wait till we leave school property then kick our butts."
"We can run, can't we?"
"Yeah, lets do that. Then get run over."
"Who cares? Lets just go."
Kanna walked towards the sidewalk with Souta following quickly. The bullies saw them and began to follow them. Kanna was now at the edge of the school property and just walked right over it. The bullies, seeing this, ran after them. Souta and Kanna kept on running until they reached a corner. Kanna quickly spun around and got into a defensive position.
"What the hell are you doing? We're going to die!" exclaimed Souta in a panic.
"Just shut up." Kanna was getting a little annoyed at his stupid cowardly talking.
When the bullies reached them, they started laughing.
"Gonna hide behind your cousin eh. Guess we're going to rip both of you to pieces."
Kurato and Sukay ran at them and threw their fists. What they did not expect was that Kanna would catch them. She then pushed them back, causing them to tumble away a couple of feet. (A.N. Kanna is a demon, which should give her a little more strenghth then others. That's what I think)
Souta stared in amazement at what is 'cousin' had done. She had managed to push two people aside with ease and make them move a few feet too.
Kurato and Sukay got back up and because of their stupidity, attacked Kanna again. When they drew close, she jumped out of the way and with a swift punch, brought Sukay to the ground. Then she landed and kicked Kurato in the stomach. He was brought to his knees and he rolled in agony.
"That must of hurt" said Souta, who was now in shock.
"That should teach them." Kanna kicked them one more time for good measure and left with Souta.
They arrived at Souta's house and sat down to have a snack. Kanna was still a little uncomfortable at her new home but she knew she was going to enjoy it.
'Until Naraku finds me.' Kanna thought bitterly as Souta brought in some drinks and two bags of potato chips.
"Kanna, I uhh, wanted to thank you for saving me back there. Thanks for being a friend."
"Your welcome. Wait, you consider me a friend? Shouldn't you be afraid of me?" Naraku always told her that humans were pitiful creatures and all of them hated and were afraid of demons like her.
"Should I be?" asked Souta while munching on a chip.
"I-I don't really know." She said said softly.
"Don't worry about it. Maybe you should start eating now."
"Already ate it." Kanna stated while tossing her bag in the air.
"You should slow down. You scared the heck out of the class at lunch time."
Souta thought back to what happened and remembered the teachers reaction when Kanna shoved all of her food into her mouth.
Souta chuckled and turned on the TV. He flicked through channel after channel until he came to the news.
"How is there a picture on that box?" Kanna asked as she watched the newscaster talk about a important discovery.
"I don't really know." Souta yawned and turned off the TV.
"We must start our work now Higurashi. It's do tomorrow."
Souta groaned loudly and brought out his work.
Later that Night...
Souta's Grandpa was walking back from another shrine, which was half way across town. He stayed there for a day and was coming back to tend to the shrine. When he arrived, he looked into a window and saw a flash of white. He ran into the house and was startled to see a girl with white hair was currently working with Souta.
'White hair, she does not seem normal. She must be a demon from the well!' he thought as he took out some ofuda.
"Be destroyed now, foul demon!" screamed Grandpa as he slammed it on her head.
Kanna turned towards him and showed a scowl on her face.
"What the hell were you doing?" asked the now pissed off Kanna with ofuda in her hair.
"Foul demon, stay away from my grandson!" Shouted Grandpa as he threw more stuff into her hair.
"Uh, grandpa. She's my friend." Souta stated to his grandpa.
"Oh, but isn't she trying to devour you?"
Souta face-faulted and told him what had happened.
"Oh, well at least you don't drag him off like Inuyasha did to Kagome."
Kanna's eyes rose in shock.
'Inuyasha comes here? Then that must mean that Souta is that miko's brother. But it doesn't matter. This is not my business right now. Naraku isn't here and he can't control me anymore.' Thought Kanna as she felt a weight get off of her shoulders.
"Well then Souta, I'll be in bed but make sure she doesn't do anything to you, okay?"
"Yes Grandpa."
His Grandpa left and Souta whirled around to talk to Kanna.
"You're a demon right? What king of demon are you. Inuyasha is a dog but what are you?"
"I am nothingness." Said Kanna who was currently working on the homework.
"How can you be nothingness when you are here?" questioned Souta with curiosity.
"Let's just say, I am the physical form of nothingness."
"Ohhhh, I don't get it"
Kanna broke her pencil and glared at Souta. He backed away a little and muttered a apology. After a few minutes, they both closed their books and Souta stood up.
"Mom's gonna be home soon."
As soon as he had said that, Mrs. Higurashi entered.
"Kanna, I have some interesting news from the school. It seems that..."

"Mom's gonna be home soon."
