Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha in anyway, whatsoever.
A.N.: It's been a few days since my last chapter and I decided that I should take a break. But I had to write this chapter before the ideas stop popping in my head. I also ask that if I have thirty reviews by the end of this story, I'll write a sequel. Thanks to all you loyal readers and remember to review. Now, on with the chapter!
Chapter 10
A disturbing silence covered the roads near the hospital as a woman stepped out of her vehicle to see what had happened. She was shocked to see a little girl lying deadly still in front of her car. She broke out of shock and began to shout for help. A few men stepped out of the van and the driver took out his cell phone.
A ambulance appeared from the hospital and began to drive their way. It stopped beside them and out came two people. They hoisted up Kanna and placed her in the back. One of the men turned to the group and said,
"It's a good thing she was so close to the hospital. She might have suffered terrible injuries."
They closed the door and stepped into the ambulance. The group got back into their vehicles, realizing that there was nothing they could do.
Back at the Hospital:
Mrs. Higurashi paced the floor, waiting to see any sign of Kanna. She looked out the window and realized it was night time. It looked pitch black outside and it sent shivers down her back.
"Kanna..., I wonder where she could be. I hope she didn't run off too far."
A disturbance could be heard in the halls and Mrs. Higurashi decided to investigate. What she saw almost made her feint.
Kanna was being wheeled in by a stretcher and appeared to be out cold.
"KANNA!" screamed Mrs. Higurashi as she raced towards the pale girl. A man in stepped in front of her and asked,
"Do you know her?"
"Yes, she's my niece." lied Mrs. Higurashi.
"What happened to her?"
"Well it appears that she was hit a bit hard by a car. She seems to be okay but she's in a comatose right now. We don't know if she'll ever wake up but we hope so."
"When did this happen? She only left a few minutes ago."
"Well, she most likely didn't look before she crossed. The caller said that it looked like she didn't even open her eyes!"
By now, Mrs. Higurashi's face was pale as snow. After those few days, Mrs. Higurashi felt a special bond between her and Kanna. But too soon did it crumble, Souta is half blind, Kanna is hit by a car, and there was nothing she could do to reverse the things that had happened.
Kanna's Nightmare:
Darkness, that was all Kanna could see. Darkness comforted her. It shielded her from hurt, pain, emotional and physical pain. But it couldn't now. She still felt the hurt even if she didn't have a heart physically. She remembered when they had gone to the park, they were happy, only to be sent downhill by her own cockiness.
'Maybe if I hadn't fought him then this would have never happened.' Thought Kanna as she went deeper into depression and deeper into the darkness.
"I guess I'll look around."
Kanna turned around in a circle but didn't see anything. It was just black. Nothing but inky black. Even everything around her became dark and depressing. A sudden bright light appeared in front of Kanna and she looked carefully to see what it was.
"That's odd." Thought Kanna while looking at the figure inside the light.
If it was what she thought it was, it seemed to be a exact copy of herself. The only difference was that she was wearing feudal era clothes while Kanna was wearing the present day clothes.
"Hello Kanna." Said the opposite coolly.
Kanna looked straight into the person's eyes and asked,
"Who are you?"
"I am you."
'Now this was odd. How could she be me unless she is a copy?'
"Doppelganger, show your true self you fiend." Kanna shouted.
"I am you. I am your silent form. I am the nothingness. You are just the soul Naraku put in you with a little bit of me in you."
"W-W-What? So your part of me?"
"Yes Kanna, and if you come back to me you won't have to feel pain anymore. You don't have to suffer any longer. With me, you will be back to your old self and you won't have to feel again." The duplicate stuck out her hand so Kanna could take it.
"Yes. That is good. No more of this pain. No more and it won't be my fault anymore because I won't feel emotions. Yes." said Kanna hypnotically as she grabbed the hand of the duplicate.
"Perfect" The duplicate's body began to shine and turn into a ghostly figure. It shot into Kanna's body and began to take over.
Light came out of Kanna's eyes and mouth as she stumbled around. Her head began to hurt. It felt like her brain was going to explode! Her hands grabbed her head and she let out a high-pitched scream...
Back at the Hospital:
Mrs. Higurashi sat down beside Kanna's pale body. Her eyes were closed shut and looked like they would be like that forever.
"Two bad things happened today. What could be worse? Kagome being captured in Inuyasha's time? Hmmm.. No way. Inuyasha is keeping my little girl safe. At least I hope so."
She turned back to Kanna and gasped. Kanna was shaking, and was she glowing? A rumble could be heard as Kanna seemed to be rising into the air. Her hair whipped around her, causing a eerie effect. Then, Kanna's eyes flashed open. But they weren't like the Kanna they knew. Her eyes were now empty and cold.
Her feet touched the ground and she made a dash for the door behind Mrs. Higurashi. She slipped past her and entered the hallway. A few nurses and doctors attempted to block her way but she pulled out her mirror and in a flash, they all collapsed to the ground. Then, a big burly security guard attempted to block Kanna's escape to the door.
Accessing her mirrors power, she made the soulless people hurl themselves at the guard. He stumbled and fell down, hitting his head on the counter. With him unconscious, nobody could prevent Kanna's escape. Nobody, but one person...
In Souta's Room:
Souta had stopped crying a little while ago and decided to read a book. He looked on his counter and groaned. The only books there were kiddy books.
"Do I look like a kid?"
Souta sighed and decided to read "Little Buster Bunny vs. The Dreaded Shaolin Celery Sticks." He flicked through the pages in annoyance and only read a little bit. The book was awfully boring so he just chucked it at the wall.
"Kanna" he whispered as he thought of the Albino.
"Where are you?"
Souta heard a heavy thunk outside of his room and he chose to investigate the strange sound. It looked like a security guard had been knocked out. Souta raced over and checked the man's heart beat. It was still there, but he felt icy cold. Souta shivered a little and looked out the door to see a figure dressed in white leaving the scene. He looked closer and then realized who it was.
"Kanna, what the hell are you doing." Said Souta as he ran off into the night.
????????(Unknown):
Somewhere, in a place where nobody knew about was a little girl. She was curled up in a ball and was crying. She could see the pain the people were experiencing on a little monitor in front of her. She could see the hurt she was giving.
The girl was nowhere. In this place, her physical body could not feel, but deep inside, a little piece of emotion was hidden.
She had lost all control over her body and had let her other side take over. Now, all she could to was watch.
In the Streets to the Higurashi Shrine:
Kanna smelt the air and made a face in disgust. She still couldn't really get used to it but had to for it was all around her.
"Now to find that well."
After searching into the mind of the other Kanna, she saw how Kanna got here in the first place.
"Once I find the well, I can return home."
The light of her mirror guided her as she drew nearer to the Bone Eater Well. It was already past midnight and nobody was around to see what Kanna was doing.
"There it is." She was about to take her first step on the stairs when something grabbed her.
She whirled around stated coldly,
"Souta..."
Souta looked at her carefully and noticed something different. Her eyes were darker, empty. They didn't have the life Kanna had.
"You aren't her, are you?"
"I am."
Kanna brought out her hand and shoved his hand off then kicked him in a gut. Souta let out a whoosh of air but still managed to stand up.
"It isn't your fault you know." Souta said while touching the patch on his eye.
"You don't have to do this."
Kanna smirked at him and whispered,
"I don't really give a damn."
She raised her mirror above her head and a beam of light slammed into Souta. He felt a tingling in his heart as he flashed a rainbow color. He soon realized that his soul was being stolen from him. With his last bit of strength, he tackled Kanna.
