Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha in anyway, whatsoever.
A.N.: Well, hopefully this will be completed and this may be shorter because I'm stumped on how I will continue this. Anyways, on with the chapter!
Chapter 16:
Kanna was currently trying to fend off Inuyasha's powerful companions with little success. She had lost the will to fight during the time she and Souta found Inuyasha and now she was almost helpless to their merciless assault.
For you see, Inuyasha's friends did not see Kanna as she was now. They only saw one of Naraku's powerful minions who constantly harassed their group. She was the ruthless demon they had come to hate and the only thought in their heads were to kill this white haired demon.
Kanna decided to run away and she quickly ran into the nearby forest. That would at least give her some cover and sometime to think.
"You cannot escape Kanna!" shouted the group as they cane charging at her.
She nearly tripped as her foot caught a root but kept up her quick pace. They probably weren't as fast as her. She was much faster than those humans could ever be. Except for that damn cat that always followed the demon slayer.
As if on cue, Kirara came charging at Kanna from the side. Kirara plowed into Kanna and she flew past a few trees and hit a tree. Stars danced in her vision but she quickly shook them off and kept on running.
"I could just kill them…" whispered Kanna to herself.
'No! You can't hurt them now, retard.' Said her inner conscience.
"What the hell? Why am I talking to myself? And when did I have a conscience?"
Kanna merely shrugged her shoulders and didn't seem to notice the ravine in front of her. She fell with a yelp as she plunged into the murky depths of the deep ravine.
"Crap, crap, crap!" screamed Kanna as she fell.
When she landed, it pretty much hurt like hell. Luckily, she was able to get up and keep moving though it was hard to see. She was now far away from Souta and Inuyasha and they're probably doing one of the two things or both:
1) They are going to check on Souta and Inuyasha.
2) Continue to follow me and hunt me down like an animal until I am slain.
She was pretty sure they were leaning to the second one. Although, they most likely saw Inuyasha and Souta so it could be either of the two. She heard no voices or footsteps so the coast looked clear. She let out a sigh and sat down.
So many changes had happened that it was like her whole life had been turned from nothing into something meaningful. But no matter how hard she tried, she could not take the number of deaths she had caused away. No matter how normal they looked when they were soulless, they still were dead. They were nothing without the souls that retained their very lives and memories.
Hours passed as Kanna continued to think to herself. She had plenty of time to think considering she was currently on the run. She was so widely known that it was most likely that if she went anywhere, she would probably end up dead.
Kanna shook out her stiff legs and stretched her arms and legs to get ready. She was going to have to go by herself this time. With only her memory of the location, she set off to go to Naraku's castle alone…
Back to Inuyasha:
"Souta, hey Souta, wake the hell up!" shouted Inuyasha as he slapped Souta's face to get a sign of life.
A sudden scent filled the air and his ears cocked to attention. It was the others! Inuyasha scrambled to pick up Souta and then quickly dashed off towards his fellow teammates. They saw him running at them and they shouted in happiness. A small reunion took place and than Shippou noticed Souta.
"Wow Inuyasha, I didn't know you liked eating humans. I wonder how Kagome is going to take that?" pondered Shippou.
Inuyasha rewarded him with a sharp whack to his skull. The victim let out a wail of pain and quickly ran behind Miroku. He glared at Inuyasha and sniffed at him.
Miroku stepped up to Inuyasha and asked,
"What shall we do now Inuyasha? Naraku's minions are everywhere and we have just found Kanna. Should we chase after her?"
Souta woke up after he heard Kanna's name and immediately saw the whole group. He walked up to Miroku and held out his hand. Miroku looked at him quizzically but than nodded and shook his hand. Souta looked up at him and said,
"So you're the perverted monk Kagome talks about."
Miroku face-faulted and mumbled about how "unfair" it was that people said that he was a pervert. Souta shook hands with everyone and patted Kirara and Shippou (he did not appreciate that and swiped at Souta).
"So what's all this talk about Kanna. Do you know where she is?" asked Souta.
"Wait a minute, who are you anyways?" asked Shippou suspiciously.
"I'm Souta Higurashi and also Kagome's brother!" shouted Souta in triumph.
"Kagome's brother!" shouted everyone excluding Inuyasha.
Souta nodded enthusiastically to their question.
"Okay, now back to Kanna. Where is she right now? We need her to find Kagome!" said Souta.
Sango, Miroku, Kirara, and Shippou swallowed and realized what they had done. It was silent for awhile with Souta tapping his foot away for an answer when Sango said what they were thinking.
"I think we may of made a tiny mistake…"
Naraku's Castle:
"They are taking longer than I expected." Thought Naraku out loud as he watched them from one of his insects by staring into a pool of a murky liquid
"The boy is slowing them down; I will need to eliminate him to get them to come here much faster. I only have so little time to waste before the inevitable, right Kagome?"
Kagome stepped from the shadows of the room and had her bow in hand. Her eyes were dull and lifeless and she looked like a walking zombie.
"Yes Naraku, I shall take Kohaku with me. Will that be alright?"
"That will be fine Kagome and remember to wear this mask. I do not want them to know who you are." He threw a wooden mask shaped like a baboon.
"Yes Naraku."
Kagome glanced at the water and felt something flash through her mind as she saw Souta She took the mask and swiftly placed it over her face. She wrapped a violet cloak over her body and exited the room. Kohaku came behind her battle ready and followed her out of the castle and into the outside world.
They were not far away from Inuyasha but it would still be a long walk from them. They would get there by midnight and it would be the best chance to strike.
It was becoming too silent for Kohaku so he decided to break the ice.
"Lady Kagome, when did you come to Naraku's castle? I've never seen you there before."
"I'm new." Was her plain response and Kohaku sweat dropped nervously.
"Okay than, it's not like I need to talk to anyone." Said Kohaku carelessly.
"That's good then." Said Kagome.
"Do you remember anything?"
Kagome stopped in her tracks and whispered,
"I only remember what Naraku has told me. I do not know anything but what he has told me. I only know I must kill them."
Kohaku remained silent and they continued to walk towards their destination, both thinking when they would remember who they are and what was forgotten in the corners of their mind.
Night Time with Inuyasha:
Inuyasha laid his sword on his lap and threw in another branch into the burning fire. He stared into the warms depths and sighed. The end was coming and he didn't know if he was prepared for it. He longed to get to where Kagome was and would do anything to make her come back to them
"We will bring you back no matter what happens!" declared Inuyasha to himself.
A sudden rustle in the bushes snapped his train of thought and Inuyasha looked around him. He could smell Naraku's scent and it was coming right for him!
Inuyasha leapt up while grabbing a burning log from the fire. He smacked away the incoming metallic weapon and threw the log. It missed barely and the attacker ran towards cover.
"So, more of Naraku's spawn. Well, we'll just see how long you live." Inuyasha brought out Tetsusaiga but it refused to transform.
Inuyasha gawked at his weapon but reacted quickly enough to dodge an arrow that passed through his silver mane, ripping some out in the process.
"So you're humans? I guess I'm going to have to kill you the old fashion way."
Inuyasha ran blindly fast at his opponent who had threw the metallic weapon but he could not see his face. He was covered in a mask and he could only smell Naraku all over him. The small opponent dived sideways to dodge the charge and put his hand in a compartment on his leg and whipped out a fine green powder. He opened his mask halfway and blew.
Inuyasha was surprised that he had missed and came charging back like a bull. But suddenly his senses were overwhelmed with a terrible stench. He covered his nose with one hand and gagged. His mind was becoming hazy and it was hard to think. Inuyasha swiped at the gas like substance and quickly retreated to the forest. Arrows were flying from what appeared to be another attacked and Inuyasha dived to the ground to dodge.
As soon as he had touched the trees Inuyasha threw up onto the ground. The smell was like a thousand dead Narakus (which would be nice but in a different way). Quick footsteps were heard and since Inuyasha was feeling a little better, he thought he might be a little harsher. He dug into his skin until blood was drawn.
"Take this! Blades of Blood!" shouted Inuyasha as the blood on his hand flew from his claws and towards the attacker.
The attacker was smacked in the chest and he literally went flying away and it was clear he wasn't going to get back up for awhile.
"One down, one to go."
As if on cue, an arrow hit Inuyasha on the arm but it wasn't very deep.
"Is that all you got?"
The arrow glowed red and an explosion occurred. Inuyasha was blown into a nearby river and groaned in pain. A shadow jumped from a tree and landed right in front of Inuyasha.
"Give up yet half-demon? I have no time to waste with you. It is that human boy you bring with you that must die!" whispered the masked attacker.
Inuyasha couldn't tell if it was male or female but he assumed this person was male. Inuyasha picked himself up and looked at the wound he had inflicted on himself and the one he had put on him. They were both healing nicely but they still hurt like hell but no blood dripped. Inuyasha wind milled his arms and smirked.
"Alright old man, let's see what you've got."
They both jumped backwards and got into attack position. Both of them knew they were ready to fight to the death and both were positive that they would be the victor. The masked man drew his bow and pulled back and arrow. It pulsed red and than it faded.
"Let us begin." And he let a arrow fly.
