Chp.10 A fight to the death

Hey ya'll, sorry for being gone so long. I was away at work the whole summer, then I was marching band camp, then I started High School so that plus marching band is taking up a huge chunk of my time. I'm so very sorry –bows- please forgive me for torturing you so by keeping this chapter from you. So, to get on with things, here's the story!

"You humans are so stupid." –talking

'Ch, you wish Hiei.' –thinking

#Wish? I know, you stupid human.# -telepathy

(I always seem to need these) –notes from me.

Note: I have a new way to translate Japanese in my writing, look out for it!

Yami was hanging in mid-air; something that was latched to her "cuffs" held her arms above her head and keeping her hanging. "Let. Me. Go. God damnit." She snarled through gritted teeth.

"Hmmmm….how about…..no." Edward cocked a smile/sneer at her. Already pissed, and growing even more pissed by the second. She tried to kick him in the face, key word there being 'tried'. Every time she tried to touch him in any way, or move for that matter, a wave of electric shock would run through her entire body. "Just give up and become my mate, you won't have to go through with this torment if you give in." Yami took a deep breath before answering, regaining control over the fit she had from the shock.

"As if. I would rather die a slow and painful death than do that. If I gave in, the torment would be even worse because I would be stuck with you forever!" She yelled with anger clearly dripping from her words.

"Bad choice," Edward sneered, letting another wave of electricity go through Yami. 'Shit! This isn't good, not good at all. That damn idiot is gonna make me black out soon if he isn't careful, which I know he isn't. Damn, I need to get out this!'

#No one cares Yami #

#Emmy! Why you stinkin' lil- #

#I don't have much time, so just listen to me. We're almost there, so just hang on, you think you can at least manage that? #

#Can I take that literally? #

#Naze? Why? # (here's the new translation, like it?)

# Uhm, I think when you get here you'll understand. #

#Whatever. #

"Looks like I won't have to deal with you for long." Yami sneered. Edward cocked a brow, his icy blue eyes searching her garnet red ones, searching for a clue.

"Oh? And what gives you that impression?" Yami smirked and couldn't help but sing her answer in a little girl-sing-song voice.

"I'll never tell." (It's from a scary movie, tell me if you know which one 'cause I have no clue! ) And kept repeating and repeating it till he got frustrated. Growling deep within his throaght, he decided to teach the cat demoness a lesson she soon wouldn't forget: don't tick him off. A wave of electricity, one much larger than the ones Yami had previously been given, washed over her, engulfing her very being, and causing her to black out, her limp body just hanging by her very raw wrists. Banging erupted from the large double doors that lead to the throne room, the sound waves reverberated in the room, echoing and growing fainter and yet louder. 'Damn! How the hell did her friends manage to get here so quickly!' A shine of looked to be light but was really light glancing off of a katana blade in a diagonal line, the upper-half of the doors falling forward with a loud crash onto the stone floor.

"Yami!" Her friends cried in seemingly unison, surprised at the state the demoness was in. Kurama took his thorn whip and latched it to the invisible binds of Yami's cuffs, the whip wrapping around it. He tugged at it, hard, breaking the bond and sending Yami hurtling down to the ground. Hiei ran, becoming a black blur, and caught Yami easily in his arms.

"Is she alright?" Emmy asked Hiei as she ran over to him. Hiei took a quick glance at Yami's body, before his eyes settled on her wrists; which had turned black, red, and purple and had blisters all over, with some already popped and some skin just peeling off when brushed against anything, even a gentle stroke of a finger.

"I only see 3rd degree burns around her wrists and she's blacked out." He said curtly. Cheyenne came up Hiei with a dagger in hand and placed the cold blade between Yami's wrists, cutting the lightening cuffs off, causing them to disappear.

"He's still here," Kuwabara said softly, though the absence of sound made his voice louder then anticipated and it echoed off the stone walls. A cruel, maniacal laugh reverberated throughout the room, coming from what seemed like everywhere, but yet no one could pin-point its exact position. A spark of lightening came out of the shadows, heading straight for Hiei and Yami. Turning his back to the attack, Hiei jumped (with Yami in his arms) to hopefully dodge it. But he was too a second too-late. A wave of the attack caught them and sent the two flying into a wall, though Hiei moved so that his back hit the wall and Yami wouldn't get hurt at all. The two crashed into the stone wall, making a crater in it that a cannon would make. Hiei came out of the rubble with nothing more than a few scratches, while Yami was only dusty from the stones crumbling.

"Humph, so you were able to barely dodge that, but that won't happen again I promise." A cool voice spoke. "But as you can see, you were too late to save the poor cat." At this, everyone turned to look at Hiei, who was now not holding a blacked out Yami, but a black domesticated looking cat that red tipped ears, tail, and paws. That cat had short fur and looked to be sleeping. Edward stepped out of the shadows, a mask of calm strapped to his features, though inside he was angry as hell that he hadn't been able to kill that stupid half-breed quite yet. Someone stood behind the stoic demon. It was Ketsueki. His sky blue eyes were glazed over and had no pupil in them; they were just an endless sea of blue. If you were to look close enough, you would be able to see that his mind was fighting control over his own body.

"Why do you mean 'too late'?" Yusuke asked, his hands going into tight fists.

"You see, she's been electrocuted so many times, she might as well be dead. But since she isn't, one more just might do the trick." Edward sneered. A wave of apprehension hit came over the group, Yami might actually die. Yusuke's balled-up fists became so tight, his knuckles turned white. In one motion, one came up with his index finger pointed at Edward with his thumb up, his other hand supporting his wrist. Some of his spirit energy collected on the tip of his index finger, looking to all the world like a gun.

"Shot Gun!" The spirit bullet shot off at its target, but it glanced off of some invisible shield that was around Edward. Edward regarded it as nothing.

"Ketsueki, why don't you go have some fun?" Ketsueki stepped out in front of Edward, facing the gang. A whip of fire appeared in his hands.

"Ketsueki! It's us; Emmy, Tiza, and Cheyenne! We're your friends! Why would you want to hurt your friends!" Emmy said, trying to play negotiator. Even though Emmy didn't want to fight the cat demon, she had her fans out, ready for an attack if need be.

"Because Master Edward orders it," Ketsueki said in an emotionless monotone voice.

"So that means if he orders you to kill everyone you care about, you would do it?" It was an old question, yes, but it was redone it fit the circumstances. No answer came from him. "That's what I thought. So why do you go and fight us now?" His whip lashed out at Emmy, but she easily side-stepped it. This went on for awhile, except Emmy used water attacks to try and douse the fire whip, but to no use. Then, the whip came at her in a surprise attack and wrapped itself around her, burning her and constricting her movements. She gasped for air, but was greeted with extremely hot air that burnt her airways and made it harder to breath. She finally passed out do to lack of oxygen. The fire whip let her go, revealing red burn marks that went around her stomach and torso. Then, Kuwabara, being the stupid one that he is, (sorry to all you Kuwabara fans) went to attack Ketsueki head on. He was down in 2.8 minutes. Then Yusuke went up, he too not lasting very long, even though he was one of the most powerful humans any demon could come across. Soon only Kurama and Hiei were the only ones conscience, and Hiei really wasn't in any position to fight seeing as he had refused to put Yami down for who knows what reason.

"Kurama, don't be stupid and fight right now, it's clearly not worth it." Hiei said, eyeing the fox demon. Kurama shook his head, his bangs falling over his eyes.

"We have to stop this madness Hiei, even if it means self-sacrifice." 'Stubborn kitsune' Hiei thought scornfully. So now it was whip against whip, or should I say, fire against plants. While this fight was going on, Yami started to come to her senses. She slowly opened her garnet colored eyes, blinking to clear the blurriness and to adjust to the lack of light. As she became vaguely aware as to her surroundings, her finally noticed someone was holding her, though she couldn't quit tell. Sniffing the air around, she caught a familiar scent among the stench of burnt flesh and blood.

"H-Hiei?" Hiei looked down to meet Yami's unfocused eyes. "W-what's going on?" She asked weakly, surprised at how weak she sounded seeing as she was a very strong demon. Hiei looked from the cat demon to Kurama, who was putting a rather good fight, but losing rather slowly.

"Your friend, Ketsueki, is under Edward's control and is fighting Kurama right now….." The rest fell on deaf ears as she looked around. (she noticed she was in cat form and cursed, but didn't do anything about it) 'Tiza…Emmy….Cheyenne… he did this, no, Edward did this.' Yami thought with disgust.

"Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!" Kurama went flying by, hitting a wall and creating a crater where he had hit. Yami tried to get up, but Hiei held her to him to keep her still, which isn't easy to do with a desperate cat.

"Don't be a baka, idiot, Yami; you're too weak to go against him." Again it fell on deaf ears, but somehow she knew what he had said through the ringing in her ears. She turned her head as she got to her paws unsteadily. She transformed into her half and half form, having cat ears and tail sticking out where normally they wouldn't be.

"No, I have to get Justin complete control over his own body instead of being a zombie under the control of a madman." She said, looking up to meet the doll-like eyes of Ketsueki. She started to walk up to him when she was stopped by a hand on her shoulder.

"Yami, do you really want to-" He was cut off when she jerked her shoulder out of his grasp. She walked up to Ketsueki until she was arms length from him.

"Justin," She called softly yet sternly, "I know you can hear me. That bastard Edward has gained control of your body, but I know he has not controlled your mind completely." A flicker of life flashed and died in his eyes.

"No! Do not believe her! She's tricking you into believing that I'm controlling you! Don't be fooled by such a simple lie!" Edward commanded, trying to ruin Yami's plan. Yami merely ignored him.

"Why would I lie to you, Justin? You're my brother; I would never, ever betray you." Ketsueki's features seemed to soften at that, realizing the truth. 'Yes, it's working! Just keep it up girly, you can do it!' Yami cheered to herself, still watching Ketsueki's reactions. While Yami was busy keeping Ketsueki occupied, everyone else started to come back to their senses. They started to stagger to their feet, using things to stabilize them when everything went vertigo.

"Woa, what's going on?" Cheyenne asked, holding her left arm where a deep cut was bleeding and starting to crust over.

"Yami is trying to get Ketsueki back, and there haven't been any changes so far." Hiei snorted. They looked over at Yami, who was taking something out of her pocket/

"Justin, I know you're in there, maybe this could help you remember who I am exactly." She brought her hand out. In the center of her open palm lay a perfectly formed black/white gem that looked similarly like the one she wore around her neck. Ketsueki took it and looked at it carefully. For a brief moment, life and recognition flashed in his eyes. Taking advantage of that moment, Yami stuck a claw in a keyhole in the collar. When she brought it out, it fell off and clanged to the ground loudly.

"Yami, is that really you?" Ketsueki's eyes were back to normal, as was his control over his own body. Yami hugged him tightly; glad to have her older brother back. This angered Edward greatly. How on Earth was she able to do that? Just then, Chii came out of the shadows by Edward.

"Ah, my dear Chii, come to help your dear master?" Edward asked sweetly. As we all know, when someone as evil and demented as Edward sounds sweet, it's just plain creepy! Chii glared at him and wrapped her right hand around her own black collar. "Now now, don't do that Chii." Edward scolded softly, starting to panic. Too late. She ripped off the collar, chunking to the ground like a worthless piece of trash.

"Dear master! To hell with you, ya bastard! I've been in control this whole time; I was just playing along like a life-sized doll till the right time came!" She sneered, walking over to the others. The boys stepped back as Chii, Tiza, Emmy, Cheyenne, and Yami gathered by each other.

"You've always known it was a risk messing with me," Yami started,

"But messing with the rest of the band," Cheyenne continued,

"You just got yourself knee-deep in shit." Emmy finished.

The boys could sense that all the girls, even Chii, were low in spirit energy right at that moment, but that didn't seem to stop them. Each girl put their hands in front of them, an orb of different colored energy forming gradually. "Never mess with the masters," Yami began, "of the elements combined!" They all chorused.

Cheyenne held up her orb, it was dark blue-green. "Earth!"

Yami held up hers, it was swirling with reds, oranges, and yellows. "Fire!"

Emmy held up hers, it was pale blue/white. "Wind!"

Tiza held up hers, it was swirling with different shades of blue. "Water!"

Finally Chii held up hers, it was white/yellow and sparking with electricity. "Lightening!"

The orbs shot energy above the girls, forming a blinding white orb or their energies combined. "Elemental Blast!" They all yelled together. The orb shot out a ray of energy at Edward; he never had a chance to move. His dying screams could be heard as the white energy engulfed his body, leaving nothing more than ashes on the ground. The girls were now completely drained of all their spirit energy and some of their body energy. "We beat him….finally…." With that said, Yami and the others passed out.

YY4e: Haha! I finally finished typing this stupid chapter up!

Yusuke: You don't know how long it took her to actually finish doing this one. Try about 2-3 months.

YY4e: Shut up Yusuke, school and marching band were my priority then, now I can actually get on the computer during the weekday (if I don't have much homework)!

KK: #raffles in the hat-o-names# The next to sing is…..YY4e!

YY4e: Oh great. #goes up on stage# Alrighty then, this song shall be "Sooner or later" by Breaking Benjamin #KK starts the music#

" I want a normal life
just like a new born child
I am a lover hater
I am an instigator
You are an oversight
Don't try to compromise
I'll learn to love to hate it
I am not integrated

Pre-Chorus
Just call my name
You'll be okay
You're scream is burning through my veins

Sooner or later your gonna hate it
Go ahead and throw your (2nd time: my) (3rd time: our) life away
Driving me under, leaving me out there
Go ahead and throw your (2nd time: my) (3rd time: our) life away

You're like an infantile

I knew it all the while

You sit and try to play me

Just like you see on TV

I am an oversight
Just like a parasite
Why am I so pathetic
I know you won't forget it

pre-chorus
