"Why am I doing this?" Kagome asked. The woman driving the car looked over at her.
"Look, this family really likes kids and is actually willing to take you off of my hands, okay! Now just shut that mouth of yours and fake a kind personality." She said.
Kagome scoffed. "Look Midoriko, we all know there's nothing I want more than to get away from you, but I'm not going to this stupid interview." She said.
Midoriko smiled. "And the Oscar goes to Kagome Higurashi for laying it out on her social worker," She started. "Besides, we're already here." The car pulled up and parallel parked beside a two story light blue house.
"This house looks like the people inside are preps, I'm not going." She brushed her baggy forest green jeans off and crossed her arms.
"Kagome, stop being such a child, and spit out the gum." Midoriko sighed.
Kagome bit her gum in half and held it in her hand. "Want some?" she asked.
Midoriko sighed as Kagome smiled in at her victory. "Works every time." She snickered.
"Smile." Midoriko said as she rang the doorbell.
Kagome plastered a fake smile onto her face. A woman with light brown hair answered the door. "Why hello, oh look, she's got her mother's smile!"
Kagome let the smile fall off of her face. "Go screw a cow." she said, walking into the house.
The woman looked bewildered. "Oh goody, plant people." Kagome said, the sarcasm spilling from her lips. A man walked into the room.
"Hello, you must be Kagome." he greeted.
Kagome smiled cheaply and shook his hand. "And you must be the idiotic jackass that's trying to make me forget about my dead parents, nice to meet you." She beamed. A laugh sounded from the kitchen. She turned to the sound and stared at the kids that stood before her. Three teenagers. Two boys and a girl. The woman walked into the kitchen.
"These are our other three kids, Sango, Miroku, and Inuyasha." Kagome waved her hand.
"What up?" she greeted them. The woman left.
The young girl, Sango, held out her hand. "Run away while you still can." You warned.
Kagome nodded, "Believe me, I plan to." She said. "So umm...I'm Kagome."
A boy with long silver hair, dog ears, and golden amber eyes sighed heavily. "I'm Inuyasha."
"Sango."
"Miroku." A young boy with black hair pulled back into a low pony tail.
Kagome groaned. "Okay so here's the thing, I'm not getting adopted any time soon. I've only got about a year to go before I'm an adult so I don't even know why I'm here. Okay, so the point is, don't start being nice to me."
Midoriko walked into the room with the couple. "So we've decided, Kagome, you are going to stay here with us, just to see how you interact with the family, and then we'll decide whether or not we're going to adopt you." The woman announced. She looked from child to child. "Is that okay with all of you?" She asked.
Kagome rolled her eyes and groaned while stomping her feet. She heard Inuyasha laugh and turned back towards him, glaring at him. She crossed her arms. "Fine." She walked out of the house and jogged down the porch. She opened the car door and slid in. "God, I hope they don't adopt me." she murmured.
Midoriko looked at her like she was crazy. "And why is that?" she asked.
Kagome smirked and turned her head to her social worker. "Cause that Inuyasha guy was hot."
