Takuya had never seen Hitonari laugh as much as he did when he was with Akane.
His eyes lit up and were focused on that one boy when his lips curved into a smile that was scarcely seen in the Hiiragi household.
They find excuses to touch, arms slinging around shoulders, fingers grazing skin at hips where shorts and shirts meet, whispered words close to ears.
When he came to pick up Hitonari one day he was making out in the locker room with Tachibana Akane. He was a little surprised, but that crease of concentration between his eyebrows and quiet smile that came afterwards convinced him to keep his mouth shut and close the door again.
He told himself that it must be Tachibana's influence that Hitonari was so blatant about it. It is something that is kept within the team. They are protected. The fact that they hit each other more often than they kiss each other in public protects them as well as the watchful eyes of all the others in their team.
He has seen Hitonari fall asleep on Tachibana's shoulder and be dared with a glare to wake him up.
And when Tachibana leaves once as Takuya is arriving at Hitonari's apartment, he blinks once and lets it go because there is a pleading look in his little brother's eyes, the little brother who hardly ever dares to ask for anything.
And so, if anyone dares to beat up Hiiragi Hitonari for being in love with another guy, Hiiragi Takuya will join the rest of the Kouzu basketball team in beating them up in return.
He will protect his little brother's laugh.
