Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Author's Note: I'm sorry if this is a bit short. This is supposed to be a one shot, after all. This fic is taking place after Cho corners Harry in the Room of Requirement. I doubt Ginny actually saw them kissing, but I just added it in. Because if I hadn't, there would be no point in writing this, would there?
Ginny Weasley was never the jealous type of girl. When her oldest brother, Bill got prefect, and later Head Boy, she was never jealous. She dealt with it, knowing that she could do better than that.
When her next brother, Charlie had become Quidditch captain, she wasn't jealous. She dealt with it, knowing that she could do better than that.
When Percy, for heaven's sake, became the Minister's junior assistant at age 19, she wasn't jealous. She dealt with it, knowing that Percy was a prat.
But now, she found herself green with envy at a girl. Cho Chang, to be exact. Why? Because she had everything.
"Everything," Ginny spat.
She had brains, looks, wealth, popularity… and Harry Potter. The Harry Potter, who Ginny stuck her elbow in the butter dish when she saw him. The Harry Potter, who had befriended his brother Ron, and rescued her from the Chamber of Secrets in her 1st year.
Cho Chang had Harry Potter wrapped around her slender little pinkie. It was obvious he was smitten with her.
She couldn't blame him. She was the typical Asian beauty, with long, ebony black hair. It was so sleek and shiny, and looked as if it had never seen a knot. She had pale, almost white skin that, unlike Malfoy's, was natural and healthy looking. Her family was very wealthy, and she seemed to always be surrounded by a group of giggling girls.
How could Ginny possibly compare? She was the pushed aside little sister, with hand me downs and second hand robes and clothes. She had a head of long, messy carrot orange hair, and a temper to match.
Ginny had known of his crush, and tried to ignore it. Who cared if the Harry Potter, who she had fancied in her 1st year, had a crush on another girl?
But ignoring it didn't work. She had accidentally walked in on Cho and Harry kissing in the room of requirement. It wasn't her fault; she had just left from DA, when she realized she had left her bag there. She had turned back to get it, when she spotted the two kissing in a dark corner.
Cho seemed to be crying. Harry was patting her awkwardly on the back, trying to stop her flow of tears. Ginny just stared from the door frame. She probably would have stayed staring, all night, had Luna not come with her to retrieve her bag.
Luna had seen her look of hatred and disgust, and once they reached the Gryffindor common room, she sat her down on one of the armchairs, and hugged her. Ginny was in a dazed state, and she felt…numb.
Yet, she felt better, as Luna placed her arms around her, and told her that Harry Potter wasn't worth it and that Cho Chang was nothing but a pretty face.
Luna had to leave the Gryffindor Common Room, because she wasn't allowed there, being a Ravenclaw. She lay there on the arm chair, clutching the nearest object so tightly, her knuckles were white. She felt a cold shiver that had nothing to do with the fireplace burning so merrily in front of her chair.
She heard the portrait open. With a lazy turn of her head, she saw that it was Harry. He had a look of pure ecstasy on his face, as he clambered over to Ron and Hermione.
Ginny decided that it was time to leave. She got up, and headed towards the staircase to the girl's dormitory. As she turned around the corner, she disappeared into the shadows, fading from sight.
Because Ginny Weasley was never the jealous type of girl.
