Things Unseen
"I was only trying to protect you." He puts another photo on the pile.
She puts the magnifying glass down and takes another picture. "I know."
Picks up a photo. "Do you?" Picks up the magnifying glass from where she set it down.
"Yes, Munch, I know." Trying to brush him off, shut him up.
Scans the picture, looking for something that might help. "I didn't mean to hurt you."
Squints at the photo, trying to see anything helpful through tired eyes. "You didn't." Holds out her hand for the magnifying glass.
"I did, but I'm not sorry. You deserved to know it could be a hoax." Looks at another picture.
Fights back a sigh. "Fine. Can I have that?"
He looks at her, but she stares pointedly at the magnifying glass. "You're gonna need it." And hands it to her. He goes back to looking at the photos, not seeing the confused look she sends him.
"I hear you had a date."
