Chapter 2

"Then do what you will Rasid. I have already told you, I am not backing down." Kyra said as she drew a dagger from a hidden sheath on her leg.

The air crackled with power as each vampire let leash their aura. Rasid disappeared and reappeared instantaneously behind Kyra. She slashed her dagger at him but he was too quick. He took a single step back and kicked the dagger out of her hand. She immediately spun a sweeping kick at Rasids legs and connected. He fell backwards. Before Kyra had another chance to strike, Rasid put on hand toward the ground and did a handspring to his feet.

He squared up again. He swung at her head and could hear her jawbone as it broke. Kyra flew back five feet and smashed into a brick wall. She saw stars dance in her head as she struggled to get up. Her jawbone had already mended itself by the time she arose. A broken bone or cut heals almost instantly on vampires, unless it is a crippling or deadly blow, such as a broken neck. Those wounds can take over an hour to fully heal.

She lashed out kicking and punching as fiercely as she could, connecting every few hits, but not enough to help her win. Every wound she inflicted healed before she could hit again, and she was tiring out.

Rasid was merely toying with the Kyra. She had some skill, and her ancestral line had been known for its physical strength and fighting ability, but Rasid had more experience by more than three thousand years. He was not the strongest in his line, but he was close, using both physical and mental attack on foes in a deadly combination.

As Kyra tired, Rasid began to attack back. Every so often he would lash out with his mind, confusing and hurting her. She could have put up mental defenses, but in her frenzy she was tiring to quickly for them to be much use. Finally, Rasid let loose an open palm to her heart, sending her sprawling backwards.

"Kyra, I will not tell you again, do not challenge me. Next time, you will die." Rasid said as Kyra became unconscious. He walked away thinking deeply to himself.
