A/N: I haven't work on this story in a while. I started it, and then I gave it up, because I lost interest. But so many people seem to like this story, I decided to get back to work on it.

The premise of this story is to humorously cross some popular fairy tales with the Firefly 'verse. River goes to sleep and imagines herself and her friends in such stories as Goldilocks, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, you get the idea.

Enjoy!

Simon and River's bunk

"…And the handsome prince knelt down and kissed Snow White. To the amazement of the seven dwarves and the animals, Snow White opened her eyes and got to her feet."

River smiled. At the moment, she was sitting up in bed, listening as her brother, Simon, finished reading the story of Snow White. When they had stopped at the marketplace on Lilac, River had found an old book of Earth fairytales and begged Simon to get it. Now, every night for the past week, she had to hear at least one story before bed.

"So what happened then?" River asked, excitedly.

Simon glanced over the top of the book and smiled. "Well," he said, "The dwarves and the forest animals rejoiced, and Prince Charming took Snow White aboard his shuttle and whisked her away to a little, floaty island on Bellerophon."

"That's not really what happened," River laughed.

"Sure it is," replied Simon.

"No," River argued, "I'll bet the prince put Snow White on his big, white horse and carried her off to his castle, where they both lived happily ever after."

Simon chuckled. "The end!" he said, as he closed the book.

"And now," Simon said, putting the book back on the shelf, "It's time to hit the hay."

"Simon," said River, as Simon tucked her in, "Do you think there's really a place with magic forests and talking animals and evil witches, and where princesses really live happily ever after?"

Simon paused and smiled. "I don't know. Maybe there's a planet like that that we've never been to, or maybe it happened on a world we know about and we just don't know it. But if it's a place you want to go to now, there's one place where you can."

"Where?"

Simon tapped River's head. "Up here. When you go to sleep, there's a whole other world waiting for you. There are magic forests, good friends, talking animals, spooky bad guys and a handsome prince who always rescues the princess."

River was getting excited. "I wanna go there now!" And with that she closed her eyes, lay down, and went to sleep.

Simon smiled. He leaned down and kissed River on her forehead. Then, he climbed back into his own bed and reached for the light.

"Good night, mei-mei," he said, "Sweet dreams." Simon turned out the light and went to sleep.
