Author's Note: I did not come up with the names: Ryan Ballat or Michael. I wish I had...but sadly, no. I read those names in a fic a while ago (blasted brain won't let me remember who's fic it was, so, author of that fic, if you read this...you can take credit for the names) and I loved the names. They seemed to fit. Okie, thanks!
Snow Day
Ryan "Kid Blink" Ballat rolled over. He stared at the neon green clock on his bedside table. It was 8:37 a.m. The sun had yet to rise (seeing as it was winter), and Blink felt absolutely no need to leave the cozy confines of his warm bed. Blink wasn't really a morning person, and he hated when his bare feet hit the cold wood floor. Blink's long-time boyfriend, Michael "Mush" Meyers, usually had to drag him out of bed. Literally.
Blink felt absolutely no need to get out of bed. None whatsoever. Well, that was until he saw the large white flakes drifting past his window. It was snowing. "Finally," thought Blink. It was going to be a good day. Kid grinned in child-like enthusiasm, threw off his blanket and leaned over to turn on the lamp next to his bed. But Blink stopped short. Something was on the lampshade. Kid Blink squinted his good eye, and smiled. It was a small yellow post-it note, and on it, written in his boyfriend's slanting script, were the words: 'Go look out your window'. Blink shook his head, still smiling, and tugged on his slippers, before heading over to his window. He peered down into his backyard, and gasped in delight.
The words 'I love you' were etched into the fresh snow, and next to the words, stood Mush. He noticed Blink staring out of the window, and grinned. Mush was wrapped in a huge jacket, and snowflakes had settled on his brown curls. His honey-brown eyes danced with laughter. God, but Blink loved Mush's eyes. Mush beckoned for Blink to come join him.
Blink nodded excitedly, and hurtled downstairs, threw on a pair of pants, a jacket, and a pair of boots, and burst outside. He ran towards Mush and threw his arms around his neck. Mush stumbled back, and they fell into the fresh powder. Laying side-by-side in the freezing cold, they smiled at each other. Blink vaguely remembered wondering why the snow wasn't melting from Mush's beaming face. Minutes passed. They simply lay in the snow, fingers laced, savoring the simple perfection of that instant. Blink reached out and brushed some snowflakes off of Mush's cheek, and stated, rather simply, "I love the snow."
