Obi-Wan Kenobi stared at his cards. A high seven and an eight stared back at him. He glanced around the table, calmly checking his competition.
Tal Nurrac sat upright, shuffling his cards repeatedly in his left hand. His right hand stroked his third chin, and his extra hand clasped his drink.
Juhurra smirked as he spread his cards out and slapped them on the table. "High nine," he said.
Obi-Wan sighed and laid his cards on the table. Tal Nurrac laid his cards down, snarling at Juhurra for the second time that afternoon. Juhurra happily gathered the cards, and the chips that had been carefully stacked in the middle of the table.
As the chips were being gathered by Juhurra's greedy hands, Obi-Wan looked around the bar. It was a typical dusty bar on Tatooine. Outsiders from every system came to Tatooine looking for legal or illegal transport for goods. They stopped at any one of the dozens of cantinas to grab a drink or a quick game of sabacc before completing their missions.
Obi-Wan's eyes traveled the length of the bar, and stopped on a hooded figure. He was crouched at the corner of the bar farthest from his table. He motioned to the bartender, and the bartender served him a drink. The hood never moved from his face.
The hooded figure gave Obi-Wan a strange feeling. He felt as if he should investigate this person. Was it another Jedi? Impossible. He would have felt a disturbance in the Force. He slowly rose from his table, and approached the bar.
"Hey, Obi-Wan, are we finished here?" asked Juhurra. Obi-Wan waved his hand and continued walking. Juhurra chortled and finished gathering up his winnings.
Obi-Wan approached the hooded figure and sat on the barstool next to him. He gestured to the bartender. "A sambuca, please," he said. The bartender gave him a steely stare, then fixed the drink. He placed it none too gracefully in front of Obi-Wan.
He grasped his drink and turned to the figure next to him. "Do I know you?" he asked. He felt the Force flowing from this being.
The hooded figure turned and faced Obi-Wan. She looked into his eyes. "No, I don't believe you do," she said.
Chapter II
Obi-Wan was stunned. A girl?
