Jude's First Tour!
Overwhelmed, Jude sat on the couch on her small but comfortable tour bus. Dread, enthusiasm, sorrow, and restlessness filled her. Staring out the window, she couldn't help but want a stop that should have already happened.
Her eyes hungrily spotted a Burger King, and she was off the couch instantly. She made her way to the front, where Georgia sat beside the hired driver.
Rambling on about the future stops, Georgia stopped when she saw Jude approaching.
"Can we stop at the Burger King coming up?" Jude pleaded, using her eyes for emphasis.
"I guess," she agreed. "Go ahead and pull over," she told the chauffer.
Georgia gathered her papers. Jude snatched up her shoes and grabbed a hat, putting them on. She was more than eager to get off of the cramped tour bus.
The bus came to a stop; Jude, Georgia, and E.J. exited the bus and hurried toward the restaurant, with Jude unquestionably leading.
Actually Jude was almost flat-out running, trying to burn energy.
She quickly ordered her food, seeing the Spider-Man gang come in the door and start to order. See, Jamie had become a manager about two years ago, and Jude decided to have them tour with her as her back-up band. The boys could be annoying, but sounded fairly good.
Georgia came over with a downcast expression. "Bad news Jude," she informed the singer. "Darius wants a song for you to sing in the first concert. You'll need to start writing right away."
"Can I finish eating first?" Jude said, grinning.
"Of course," she said. "But be back on the bus in twenty minutes." Just as she finished, her cellphone rang. She promptly answered it, walking out of the Burger King.
But her space was quickly filled by the Spider-Man band. They seemed interested by the fact that Jude had to write a song before their first concert. They helped with ideas about what she could write about what she'd been going through.
They didn't know the half of it, thought Jude, as she popped a French fry in her mouth.
After finishing their food, they had time to run around the parking lot before loading onto the buses for the night. Jude felt like a little girl, running around the Burger King parking lot playing tag.
After getting set-up in the bus' pull-out bunk, she grabbed a pencil and notepad.
You know, they could be right, she thought. They could be right…
After a bit of internal debating, she decided she was going to take their advice. She would write a song about a mix of emotions, like those she'd been through. She wanted to make sure she captured everything that'd happened even if some of it hurt.
She went through her mind, searching for the right words.
It was all a jumble, starting with the birthday disaster. After that, she'd found out her dad was having an affair, Tommy was dating Jude's older sister, Sadie, and that she loved Jamie. Jude started scribbling down lyrics and didn't stop until the clock told her it was past midnight.
Sleep found her with the pencil and pad still in hand.
