Summary: Doug's world is suddenly changed with one phone call. Set after "Fathers and Sons" (3.15) and before season 4 begins.

The Phone Call
"Penhall, line three!" Hoffs yelled across the room from her desk to where the coffee maker was in the Chapel. Doug Penhall had just arrived thirty minutes later than usual and was getting his daily fix from a cup of joe.
"Thanks, Jude!" the comedic cop replied. He took the short trip back to his desk which was strewn with the few bits of paperwork from his last case.
Doug sat down in his wooden swivel chair, picked up the receiver, and pressed the number three. "Yo, Penhall here."
There was a long pause, then, "Doug, I'm pregnant..."
It was Dorothy.
