And now, on with the story!

As I stand right now in the bustling ER awaiting the multiple GSW's that are going to roll through any moment, I can't take my mind off her. One of my co-workers, who also happens to double as my roommate. Dr. Neela Rasgotra, one of the sexiest doctors I've ever encountered in my entire medical career, mind you that hasn't been very long.

There's a fine line that I'd pass if I ever tried something with her. First off, Gallant is with her currently, if you could call them a couple of course. He's off in Iraq fighting or something like that. One can never remember with him. Neela hardly ever talks about him anymore, must be a touchy topic and everyone's avoided it.

I do remember the day that he showed up with some kid who needed serious medical attention. Neela had been a wreck for days afterwards. She refused to admit it, but she was hurt that he had just up and left her again…

"Ray!" A delicate female voice calls over the hustle and bustle of the ER. My head snaps up from the chart I had been pretending to inspect. It's her.

"Yeah?" My voice resounds to her's, the tone slightly sharp as she's ripped me from my daydream. "GSW's, two minutes out." She replies. I don't bother to respond, knowing that the answer is obvious. My feet carry my dazed body out of the ER craze and out through the trauma room and into the bay. The cold winter air bites at my exposed fingers and face and a shiver climbs up my body slowly. The snow is falling lightly. I watch as the flakes gently hit the ground. The doors of the ER swing open again and it's a mere moment before she takes her place next to me. Her dark hair swings over her shoulders and comes to a rest curled slightly inward towards her chest. The soft white flakes imbed themselves in her soft hair.

To me, nothing looks sexier then the snow clinging to her hair. I open my mouth, still gazing at her. But nothing comes out. There's so much I want to say to her, but this isn't the time or place to do so. Somewhere in the distance, I can hear the sirens wailing as the ambulance approaches County. Seconds later, the vehicle in question screams into the lot, destroying the fallen snow on the ground. Neela moves forward quickly towards the back of the truck and my eyes fall to the lower half of her body, watching as her hips sway slightly from side to side. A grin slowly makes it's way onto my face before she calls my name.

"Ray!" I roll my eyes and start forward after her. I know she'll be pissed off at me for just standing there, daydreaming. Although she'd be more pissed if I told her who I was dreaming about… But I can't help it, she's absolutely beautiful, smart, and just generally perfect…..

But in her eyes… I'm just her roommate and co-worker. Dr. Ray Barnet… For now at least.
