Title: Until Heaven Comes
Rating: PG
Author's Notes: Written for Fanfic100, prompt Death
The sky is blue. Rather ironic, on this day of death. But I'm sure it has its meaning.
I knew it was coming. His hints were subtle, but I knew. Perhaps that's the ultimate gift you get at the end of years of Him. Some gift that is. Perhaps I've just served my purpose, fullfilled my true nature, whatever that may be.
They clash with the weather, these people in black. I fit rather well, I think, all calm and serene. It's odd the things you pay attention to when you can just watch from a distance, with nothing to worry about. This must be what he feels like.
Father Ken looks like….Father Ken. Proper and calm. My mother definitely isn't. Her cries nearly drown his words. I would be annoyed, normally. Now I realize that that simply who she is; someone who cries a lot. That's who I was too.
I know that I'll miss them. I'll miss these people most of everything I'll miss from life. Who they are, what they mean to me.
"We will meet again in heaven, Joan." Father Ken says. And I know he is right. They'll know too, eventually.
They'll cry, they'll mourn, they'll move on…
…and I'll float until heaven comes.
You know the drill. Review!
