A helping hand,
A twinkling gaze,
A friendly smile,
Those were his ways.
He's gone away,
Very far, I fear,
But I still wish
That he was near.
So pure of heart,
So keen of mind,
So calm he was
When I was unkind.
He's gone away
To somewhere unknown.
Now that he's gone
Who'll lead me home?
My time has come.
His time has gone.
I take my turn,
Continue his song.
He's gone away.
He'll come no more
To stand in front
Of my bleak door.
And so he's left me
And he is gone.
The light is dimming.
He'll see no dawn.
He's gone away
To someplace new.
Death is the next
Great adventure, he knew.
I shed my tears,
I wipe my eyes.
I only once
Did see him cry.
He's gone away.
I loved him so.
My life will change,
As we all know
And now it's time
To play my part
He will live on
In my heart.
