Daydream Believer Part II
"Bridge"
Author's Notes: I'm not quite sure where to begin when I think about the origins of this ficlet, which is the companion to the Z-centric "Daydream Believer". I had always wanted to do a Bridge fic and a reviewer suggested that I do a version of "Daydream Believer" that focused on Bridge. I thought it was a cute idea and decided to run with it. So, enjoy!
Boys weren't supposed to believe in fairy tales, his father had told him. But his mother told him not to listen to his father…that he had a right to believe whatever he wanted to believe.
Bridge had always loved his mother for telling him that. If she hadn't, well…he highly doubted that he'd have ever continued to look for a princess.
Ever since Bridge was a child, he'd always sort of clung to a dream of being a brave knight and fighting off monsters and dragons to earn a woman's love. He'd never really told anybody…people seemed to think he was weird enough without having to add this to their views. Bridge had never thought of himself as weird…he just had his own definition of 'normal'.
Just like he had his own definition of what he thought a princess should be. She'd be beautiful…sassy, spirited and she'd be no damsel in distress.
It was beginning to become clear to him that Z definitely fit his dream. She was beautiful and brave and spirited and very sassy. She could definitely hold her own in a fight. At first he could hardly believe it. Could he have found his princess at last?
There was just one thing he needed to see if she was really what he was looking for.
He needed to read her aura and she if it was as beautiful as he imagined it to be.
So, interested to see what he would find, she let him.
And he saw something far more beautiful than a simple aura.
And he was happy to know that he had finally found his princess.
