Summary: Someone has killed himself over a jilted love, and Shuichis all worked up about it.

Title: You Got Lucky

Author: Hana Rui

Genre: shounen-ai

Pairing: Eiri Yuki x Shuichi Shindo

Eiri Yuki didn't really like the look of devastation on the brat's face, and it annoyed him so that he should feel this way.

"That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard," he said slowly, spitefully.

When he told his pink-haired lover to watch something informative for a change, he didn't really take into consideration the amount of offensive issues it could yield that might be too much for a puny-brained pop star to handle.

"Y-Yuki..." The tears were slowly making their subtle appearances upon those weary eyes, and the heartstrings pulled even harder to Yuki's growing annoyance.

It had all began with that devastating report on the late night news. About how a certain actor, young and promising, had shot himself in the head after coming out and being jilted by the man he had loved all his life. It sounded pretty trite for a novelist like him, but Shuichi Shindo was treating it like it was the year's biggest catastrophe.

It was just like the brat to do so, actually. And it had never really failed irking the nerves out of Yuki.

"You don't even know that guy!"

He wasn't exactly the nicest person around, and he didn't make an ideal choice for comfort at times like this either. But he absolutely hated seeing his lover look so worked up over some deal he hardly had anything to do with.

"But you don't understand," the brat's voice had become small, choked by the downpour of frightful tears. "That could've been me, Yuki! It could've been me!"

"No, you idiot," Yuki snarled under his breath, now more upset that Shuichi should feel this way. "It couldn't have been you," he insisted, voice sounding firm, almost threatening.

"But—But, he was so much like me, Yuki! If Fate had gone a little off-track, it could've been—"

Oh sure, the guy had been famous. He had been at the top of his career. He would've even made it to the annals of artistic excellence in much the same fashion as the brat would, if he hadn't chosen to take the cowardly wait out.

More importantly, the guy had been gay.

But he didn't have one thing which Shuichi Shindo had, and that which the said brat seemed to have forgotten.

"No, it couldn't have been you." Yuki cupped the younger guy's face and tried to make do with the most affectionate murmur he knew, yet unable to keep from it an impatient undertone. "Because of all the moronic things you have done in your life—"

Violet eyes flashed with slighted rage, "H-Hey—!"

He gently placed a finger on his lover's lips to cut off the brewing protest.

"You got lucky enough... and fell in love with me."

He may not be able to say the exact words—not in another ten years or so. But this was the closest he could get to letting his Shu-chan know how he felt.

Violet eyes now mellowed down and put forth more tears.

But the moment a pair of slender arms flew up to wrap themselves around his neck, Yuki's ruffled and utterly embarrassed reflexes were already geared up for the usual counter.

"Yuki...Daisuki!"

One wrathful fist just went and planted itself deep into the groaning face.

"Go to sleep, Brat!"
