Disclaimer: Not mine
A/N: For my LJ friends: I said I would edit it, in other words: make it longer, I lied. I'm so sorry for that. In between studying and getting things ready for my trip to NY I don't have much time to do anything fun such as working on this. I should have some free time in two weeks, but you know how this works: I get inspired when I don't have time.

Just friends
"You're here." She stated it like she was surprised and he had to withhold himself from saying something sarcastic, like "Aren't "just" friends supposed to be there for another." But he didn't and he knew that he would regret it later on.
It was another aspect of their friendship he lost along the way: the ability to tell her everything he wanted without her getting angry. Okay scrap that without her being angry for too long.
Just friends.
He wondered why she kissed him like that if they were "just" friends. He didn't kiss "just" friends like that. That was before he kissed her of course.
"So, you heard my message?"
This was calling for a sarcastic answer.
"Yes, you did leave it on my answering machine for me to hear, didn't you? And being a really great "just" friend I did what I was ordered to do."
"Oh."
Sometimes he just wanted to shake her, to make her see some sense.
He had to hand it to her though, for a CSI she also was a pretty fine actress, because his semi-sarcastic answer seemed to surprise her.
"I'm sorry."
He hated that more, more than anything. He hated it when she apologized, when she looked apologetic, when she looked like she was feeling sorry. For him. He didn't need her pity.
"I shouldn't have called you. I shouldn't have left you that message. I shouldn't…."
Downcast eyes. Ones that could make him forget everything.
"Stop rambling."
Quick glance, catching his eye.
"I shouldn't have said we are "just" friends."
