Rainbow

The curator spoke, "Well let's see, he was wearing a dark green suit under his rain slicker, appeared Saville-Row I think. His ID was a member of the British Foreign Office. His manner was officious. He was inquiring about our recent digs. He was investigating the IRA, he said, with a slant toward antiquities smuggling. Although smuggling is widespread through out the industry, our major concern here at the Museum of Natural History is forgery."

Agent Mulder asked, "What specifically was he interested in?"

The curator continued, "Well for several years now, we have had an agreement with the three automakers to allow us to do an archeological dig in proposed plant sites. Ford is putting a plant in Ireland near Dublin. And we excavated a Celtic village on the site. The village was probably around 700-800 A.D. and the pots and tools were shipped here about 2 months ago. He wanted to review the items and found one that he claimed was a smuggled item. We came back upstairs to review the paperwork because there was something very curious about the contents of that pot. I never did get to read the folder. Ah! Yes! Here it is the carbon dating of the pot and the brew. Let's see... That's wrong."

Agent Mulder asked, "What's wrong?"

The curator replied, "The carbon dating is all messed up. The brew in the pot was Irish Malt Whiskey, yet is dated as 1200 years old. The pot is essentially a Celtic cook pot of beaten copper, but, according to the metallurgist, it is made of titanium and is fifteen thousand years old. More mysteries! Well anyway I followed Inspector Prechan back to my office. He went over and stood on that spot of sunlight. It had stopped raining. Then he opened the pot, and this is what makes me question my observation. I saw that the pot was full of little gold coins. When the sunlight struck them, he just vanished, and in his place was a rainbow. I've had my eyes checked this morning and they are fine. Do you have any answers for these mysteries?"

Agent Mulder asked, "What was his name again?"

The Curator spoke, "The British Foreign Office Inspector Lee Prechan"
