Disclamer: Nope, not mine

It had finally happened, after a year of slowing gaining back control the Dark Lord was ready to take the world by the horns and show them that he was really back. After the events that took place in the Department of Mysteries only a handful of people believed the news that the Dark Lord had really returned, many were unwilling to believe it till they would see it with their own eyes. Severus Snape at one time believed he wouldn't be alive to see the day when people trembled in fear every waking second of their pathetic lives. The wizarding world was about to enter into a to a new era that for some it would be like being thrust in to a time warp back over thirteen years ago. These were the thoughts going through Severus Snape's head as he walked down the corridor leading to the stairway to the highest tower. If all went as planned the Dark Lord would praise him above all others, and the world would know the truth about which side he, Severus Snape was loyal too.

He knew what he had to do, what he needed to do, and most of all, what he wanted to do. He had been dreaming of this moment for seven months now, ever since the Dark Lord had assigned that child the job, the job that he was about to carry out because he already knew the child was incapable. He was Severus Snape, the Dark Lord's third in command ranking just above Lucius Malfoy, and if he himself had had a son it would have been him who would have been assigned the job. Climbing the tower stairs now, Severus knew what would be waiting for him when he got to the top. Dumbledore, in a state like he had never been seen, weak, vulnerable, and completely at the mercy of anyone who wanted to take his life.

Severus was at the top of the stairs now and with a quick flick of his wand blew the door in front of him apart, a few feet ahead of him was Dumbledore. The sight was more pleasurable than he had ever dreamed it would be, the great Dumbledore reduced to nothing more than a tired old man. He looked at his surroundings and his gaze fell on Harry who was staring in horror at who he thought to be the greatest wizard alive crumpled on the floor; a bonus, the Potter boy was there to watch. Severus would have laughed out loud if it didn't mean slightly letting his guard down, a glorious scene lay before him; wouldn't that be the best reward, to see the look on Harry Potter's face, as his hero was maliciously killed, the closest thing he had to a father figure? Yes, it would be great.

Draco was standing with his wand pointed at Dumbledore's chest; Severus could see the boy was shaking. The Dark Lord had pick this boy, this mere child to kill Dumbledore, why? Severus was getting impatient, this would not do, if they waited much longer the Order would show up and it would all be over for him, his years of gaining Dumbledore's trust all for naught. Draco was still standing there, wand out and shaking; it was now that Severus took action, he raised his wand, which he had been holding at his side, his arm was steady "AVADA KEDAVRA!" He heard himself say it and almost couldn't believe it, he had done it, he had disposed of ho was believed to be the greatest wizard of all time.

The wizard who was believed to be the only one the Dark Lord feared was dead, an there was Harry Potter, he had seen the whole thing, had watched him ruthlessly kill Dumbledore. Severus felt great pleasure in having this little bonus but there want time to savor it like he would have liked to, he had to get Draco and himself out of there before the Order and Ministry showed up. He put a hand on Draco's shoulder and led him out the tower; he could feel the boy was still shaking slightly. For the second time he though, there has to be a reason the Dark Lord had picked Draco to do the job.
