The Ever Winding Road : A Sin City Yarn

It's late. Too late to be doing something like this …but it's the only thing I can do right now to save her. Time to get moving. I check my gun. It's loaded. Good. It's gonna be bloody. I walk down the dirty street to the warehouse where they're keeping her. The warehouse. And now I remember that it all has something to do with Eddie Braswell. Eddie. A wannabe freak of nature; he knew about what was going down. Too bad he didn't wanna talk. At first, anyway. It's a good thing he did talk; they all talk. Looking down the barrel of a .357 Magnum will make anyone talk, especially a lowlife like Eddie.
Shit. It's raining. I hate the fucking rain. It brings up some bad memories …but I ain't in the mood to talk about that right now. Gotta get busy. Gotta get going. If I don't, they'll slice her throat until the blood runs dry. Poor girl. She'll make it, she's tough. In second grade she beat up the school bully …he was in fourth. She'll pull through. But if she can't- No! Don't think that. Be calm. You know she'll be okay, and if she isn't, you know that you'll save her from whoever tries to take a stab at her. You'll be her bodyguard. Her angel. Her bulletproof vest.
