The One with the Phone Call
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Olivia opened her eyes to the sound of the ringing phone. Bleary eyed, she reached over for the mobile phone on the bedside table and flipped it open.
"Benson…"
For a brief moment, Elliot was confused. He glanced again at the number stated on the card that he had just dialed. But the familiar voice that had answered the call was not the familiar voice he had expected to hear.
"Olivia…?"
"Elliot…"
Olivia sat up straight on the bed. She glanced over to the other side of the bed to make sure her companion was still asleep. A smile crept up as she watched the sleeping figure.
"Liv… You there…?"
"Yeah, still here…" She said as she stifled a yawn. "What time is it anyway…?"
"About 8 in the morning…"
"8..? Ah, shit I'm gonna be late for work…"
"Don't worry about it… I'll cover for you…" Elliot said. "I know at last you had a date last night…"
"Stabler…!"
"And judging from your clueless-ness right now, I'd saw it was a pretty good date…"
Pretty amazing actually… Olivia thought as the memories of last night filled her head.
"You never told me who your date was…"
"Drop it Elliot…" She warned. "I'll be in as soon…"
"Actually, Liv…." Elliot paused as a wide grin spread across his face. "I wanted to call Alex to run a few details with her before court today…" he said. "For the Resler case…"
"Ah, I see…" Olivia felt a hand on her back. She turned to find a pair of luminous blue eyes looking up sleepily at her. She mouthed a silent good morning as she linked their fingers together. "Why didn't you…?" she said into the phone.
"I did…"
"She didn't pick up the call…?" Olivia could have sworn no phone rang before hers. "Most probably still asleep…"
"I don't know…" Elliot could not keep a straight face. "You tell me…"
"Huh..?"
"Olivia… I dialed Alex's mobile number…"
"Yeah…. And…?"
"You answered…"
Olivia tore the phone away from her ear and stared at it as if it had grown teeth. It was then she realized it was not her phone…
"Oh, fuck…"
"Oh, that I think you did…"
The End
