A/N: So this is a rather random poem that I kept thinking of while walking on my paper route one day.
Princess Elexandra Road
by Fiyero Oberon
Princess Elexandra Road
Chicken-legged and pidgeon-toed
Received on birthday six-and-ten
A golden ball, a silver hen
The silver hen, it flew away
The golden ball was meant to play
So out to the pond she went
She played a while; her mother sent
A paige to fetch her for their sup
She ignored, tossed the ball up
And reached to catch it in the air
When a fat brown toad did ensnare
The attentions of Princess E
She gasped in shock and, of course, she
Let the ball fall in the pond
"Don't worry, friend, I have a bond,
With the creatures at the bottom of the pool
- my name is Croaky Dor the Cool -
I will fetch your ball for you
But in exchange a swear from you
Just promise me a single kiss
And I will fetch your golden bliss."
A talking toad was quite a prize
But Princess E was not surprised
She could have bought a thousand more
Balls by selling Croaky Dor
But these thoughts escaped her mind
Her only thought was to find
The golden ball her father gave her
And so dear Croaky's words did waver
She would kiss his body small
To get back the golden ball
The frog vanished beneath the surface
She waited a moment then he resurfaced
"Here you go," said Croaky Dor
"Here is your ball, now kiss me more."
But Princess E just squealed with joy
She bent down, picked up her toy
Running back for birthday sup
She flung the doors and then ran up
The grand staircase to the dining room
Where the king was filled with gloom
For he had planned a birthday feast
But Princess E denied his yeast
He was so glad to see her face
"Sit right down, there's your place."
Princess E sat down to eat
She ate cake, devoured meat
Then from the door their came a knock
The king himself looked up in shock
"Who would call on this feast-day?
Answer it, send him away!"
But when the paige opened the door
Croaky Dor hopped on the floor
"Your daughter promised me a kiss,
In exchange for golden bliss."
At saying this, he showed the ball
The king stood up, all proud and tall
"Is this true?" He said to she
She looked at Croaky and said to he,
"You speak of a swear I never swore."
She wrinkled her nose at Croaky Dor
The frog looked hurt and said the king,
"Give him a kiss or your royal ring."
The princess obeyed her father
Stood up and in her ringing laughter
said, "Come here, Croaky, come to me."
The frog hopped over and then, you see,
The brat that was Princess E
Stepped on Croaky Dor the Cool
She said, "Just some frog down from the pool."
The king smiled and nodded yes
And then of course you might have guessed
For though the frog was dead and flat
A frog's a prince, Elexandra's a brat
And her father, being a dull king
Said, "For that you will get my reign!
You have saved us from the toad,
Come along now, Princess Road."
And they all smiled, were filled with laughter
All lived happily ever after
Except for Croaky Dor the Cool
The random frog from the royal pool
