Elevation
Emma started in surprise as the doorbell cut through the peaceful quiet. Shaking her head, she moved toward the entryway and briskly opened the door.
"Peter?" she exclaimed. "Why are you here?"
"Is Manny in?" he asked as he tried to peer past her into the house.
"No," she replied shortly, then attempted to slam the door in his face. He jammed his foot in the way and she stumbled back, off balance. He used the opportunity to kiss her.
When she gained her breath she weakly started protesting. "What about Manny?"
Peter simply pulled Emma closer.
"What about her?"
