Sometimes, I think our
hearts are like toys
bound in red
paper,
easily broken, stolen, or torn
and later torturously
mended with
tape, glue, and whatever
we can scrape
together.
Sometimes the pieces don't fit anymore
after they've
be broken
and sometimes they get lost.
You've lost a part of
yourself,
a part of you has died.
I once gave you my heart,
my
fragile heart,
still weak, the blue vein pulsing
and let you
hold it in your hands.
I once let you touch me,
hold me, love
me...
or so I believed.
Maybe I had mistaken your intents
for
love, maybe I assumed
your words were spoken tenderly.
Here I
lie beside you
on our marriage bed
studying your face, your
fine features.
Your pale lips are parted
and you look
vulnerable in your sleep.
I know you saw her again last
night
hidden hugs and passionate kisses
her touch is like
burning embers.
How I wish I could I have turned around
and
walked away from you
that day we first met
how I wish I could
turn back the mighty clock
and relive time and run far far away
from you
before our fate was sealed.
It was a mistake,
to
believe it was for love...
I wish I could take back my toy
heart...
my fragile heart...
my broken heart...
It's so cold
in our bed.
