"Shut the hell up, Sesshomaru!" Yelled Inuyasha with venom in his voice.

Sesshomaru didn't respond, in fact, he turned his head and disappeared into the forest faster than Inuyasha has ever seen anyone moving. His speed was way higher than Kouga's, shards added and all.

Curious to see what could have caused Sesshomaru to leave, he ran towards the direction his brother had left.

When he arrived at a clearing, he was rewarded with the most amazing view. In the clearing, there were the remains of a camp's fire, a blanket forgotten in the grass, near a tree. Near the blanket, there was the dead corpse of what had been a strong oni. Sesshoumaru was clutching something to his chest, rocking back and forth, until he opened his arms, letting see a little human girl with a tear-strained face. She had an arm injured, a bruise already forming.

"Thank you, lord Sesshoumaru, Rin will go to retrieve Jaken and then Rin will make a fire again."

Seshomaru nodded, his gaze turned suddenly to Inuyasha, who was speechless.

"Leave." Commanded the Lord in a serious tone.

Inuyasha smiled.

"Why do you keep her? She's a weakness, and you know that." He taunted, the teased.

Sesshomaru smirked. Inuyasha was taken aback by the almost-smile. His elder brother never smiled. Never. Until he was in a special (and very terrifying) murderous mood.

"Perhaps." Answered the full youkai in a mysterious tone.

Inuyasha listened to the calls of his comrades and left in a hurry.

Sesshoumaru turned his gaze towards the little girl.

Of course he knew the human was a weakness. He was no stupid, after all. But she was a reminder. She was HIS reminder.

All his life he had been a mere name. For everyone, he was a thing, more or less.

For the high charges in the Western Lands, he was Inu-Taisho's first son.

For the humans, he was a monster, a demon.

For some demons, he was a prey. He had been the prey of many of them. None of them survived.

For a lot of people, he had been the killer of the attackers, he had been his momentarily hero.

For Inuyasha, he was his hated elder brother. For the monk, he was a despicable demon with a huge evil aura.

For the strange miko, he was Izayoi's step-son and Inuyasha's elder brother and enemy.

For the taijiya, he was a mercilessly killer.

For most of youkais, he was the perfect assassin: strong, quick and unable to fail.

For other people, he was only the master of Tojuikin.

For the beings at his charge, he was the lord of the Western Lands.

For Kagura, he was her salvation.

For Kanna, a strong soul.

For Naraku, a mere toy in his plots.

For Jaken, his master.

He was so many things, he was so many different persons.

But, for Rin, he was… him, he was Sesshomaru. He was not his adoptive father, he was not her lord, he was not an assassin or a saviour, he was not the murderous youkai, she doesn't care who his father, or his mother, or his brother are. She does not care about his past. She does not care if he kills, or saves anything. She does not care what others think about his protector. She only cares for him.

He kept Rin because she did not see anyone in him. She saw Sesshomaru, the being who nobody could see, but her. She saw the real Sesshomaru. Thus, she was a reminder. A reminder that he still existed, and that was all that mattered.

Thanks for reading this one-shot.

I don't own Inuyasha, but in my dreams.

And I've studying English for a little more than a year and a half, so it would be very kind of you if someone could tell my mistakes at grammar, spelling and all that, so I can improve.

Thanks for reading, please leave a rewiew with your opinion. It will be very appreciated.
