Kyuuzo knew tenderness as the opposite of being rough.
When Kambei whispered, "I want you", his sword dug a little deeper into his neck, making him wince. The older man's voice was laced with hostility and tenderness all at once, and he was shaken.
Kyuuzo knew hostility as being rough with others.
When Kambei wanted to, he could roughly capture his lips and make him respond with passion. Kyuuzo would sometimes try and push him away, but only because Kambei wasn't being rough enough with him. The blonde didn't feel safe when he was soft and gentle, because he didn't know those yet.
Kyuuzo knew passion as being alive.
He suppose nothing ever felt quite as alive as being touched all over by hot, burning hands. Kambei's calloused hands made him feel just a little warmer.
Sometimes, in more private moments, he would admit that it was the morning after, when his partner would hold him in his embrace, that would truly make him feel feverish and alive.
Kyuuzo knew death as being an end.
He never knew it also meant learning sadness.
