Smile
By Shattered Tenshi
Ryoma has never seen Tezuka smile before. He has seen Tezuka's serious look, his angry look, his proud look…not that they look any different. He has even seen Tezuka with his lips tugged up, but he has never seen Tezuka truly smile from his heart.
In a way, he was satisfied though, because he was the only one who had seen the most expressions on Tezuka's face. He understood his buchou a lot better than other people did.
At the same time, he knew he would do anything for Tezuka just so he could know a bit more about him and to see a new expression on the older boy's face. That was why he wanted to defeat Tezuka in a tennis match. It was why he tried his best to get Seigaku into the Nationals. It was why he agreed to become the Pillar of Seigaku. These thoughts ran constantly through his mind, even when he was out with Tezuka.
They were strolling through the park after one of their weekly matches when Ryoma noticed something.
"Karupin?" The first-year carefully approached the wandering cat and picked it up. Mewling, the Himalayan-look-alike blinked innocently at the boy. "Aa….it's not Karupin." Despite what he said though, Ryoma started playing with the cat, scratching the sensitive spot between its ears, causing it to purr.
When he realized that Tezuka had been quiet for a while, he looked up towards his buchou, hands still holding onto the cat.
Tezuka was smiling at him, with the softest look Ryoma had ever seen on his face.
Immediately, Ryoma felt his face grow warm and his heart skipped a beat.
He has finally seen Tezuka smile.
Author's Note: Whee! I finally finished my first theme for the community, 50underscorelovequotes! Hopefully, I'm not too late. I wrote the first paragraph for like two weeks, before I actually finished the piece. - -;; I didn't really like the ending, but my beta said it was perfect and that it was really sweet. What do you guys think?
