A cool breeze flowed through the air of down-town station square. The sub-urban streets lit in the night by the lamposts that stood watching the roads and wavering only under the creatures that cast shadows under them. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, allowing every star with enough brightness to shine like little drops of ice. It was a warm night, despite the breeze, and everywhere people slept soundly in their beds. It was 3AM.

One of these blissfully content people was Crystal. A hedgehog. He slept quietly on his bed, atop the covers which he felt he didn't need. The window to his small appartment was open just enough to allow the cool air in which stoped it getting stuffy and un-comfortable.

Thus, it wasn't surprising in these perfect conditions, that the young hedgehog was unaware of his window being quietly drawn open and a shadowy figure drop in through it.

The figure stood. It moved quickly away from the light coming through the window from the moon and the stars, when it noticed the shadow it was casting over Crystal's bed. A spiked outline of itself.

The dark character manouvered around the room and stopped at the end of the bed Crystal lay asleep in. He continued to dream as the nightmare began to crawl up his bed towards him.

Shadie grinned maniculy as she drew a knife from her belt, now almost directly over Crystal, who was still unaware of her presense which was now praticully on top of him.

Shadie raised the weapon above her head. She was just about to force the blade down on Crystal's chest when a loud, exploding noise distracted her.

Within a second, it had roared throughout the city, disturbing the peaceful sleep of all around it as people's houses and bedrooms shook from the enormous soundwaves. Car alarms and hundreds of dogs insane barking was heard seconds after the sound reduced to a fainter rumberling as it disappeared in all directions.

Crystal nearly lept out of his skin but successfully managed to fall out of bed from the shocking awakening from the noise. It was lucky he did, as Shadie swung down at him almost immediatly after, falling forward as she did, taking a mouth full of pillow and creating a large gash in Crystal's mattress.

Crystal crawed through the darkness of his room, rubbing his head as he went from his rather awkward landing. He found a light switch and flicked it on.

The light pushed away the darkness and blinded him for a second.

"What the hell was that?" He exclaimed, before noticing the frantic movement in his bed of a dark hedgehog, shreading his bed sheets. "Shadie? How? ...What are you doing here?"

Shadie cursed at Crystal before throwing her knife at him, which got stuck in the wall, as Crystal dropped to the floor to avoid the danger.

"DAMMIT", the demonic one screeched in anger at missing a shot at maiming her rival fighter.
