You Had Me At Hello, Summers

Summary: Buffy's tired of being the Goodbye Summers.

Notes: This is a companion to The Goodbye Summers. It is one-shot. I wasn't even going to write it, but I got a lot of reviews. So here it is!

Thsutton: I would see Buffy feeling this kind of role after season seven, but probably not in the earlier seasons.

Sheilynn: Well, it's not titled The Hello Summers, but close enough. I was actually inspired by your review to write this companion.

WhiteWolf3: I can't tell if you were criticizing or not. It's hard to tell on the computer.

Disclaimer: I don't own Stargate or Buffy.

She had heard the nickname they had given her. The Goodbye Summers. She supposed it was true. After all, she always said goodbye.

Buffy made it a general role. After so many years of hearing goodbyes, she had decided that it was time for her to be the goodbye girl. She had chosen Jack and his friends after Willow had stumbled across government files concerning the Stargate.

Giles had become very interested in the Stargate program. He had sent Buffy, who had been free since the reopening of the Council, to find out what exactly had been going on.

She had infiltrated the base, and after learning that they were the good guys, she had decided to stick around. At first, Buffy was only there to drop hints, give a little advice, some warnings. But she had gotten to know them, and in knowing them, she had seen who she wanted to be.

Buffy wanted to be someone who enjoyed their work, who enjoyed saving people and the world. Who woke up in then morning and smiled because the sun was up. She had to admit that she was jealous. So she stuck around longer. She came back more.

But, no matter how long she stayed, no matter how many times she showed up, she always ended up saying goodbye. It started getting harder to say the words, especially with her growing feelings towards Jack.

He made her laugh, when she hadn't laughed in so long. Jack made her care, and it had been a while since she had felt anything. He made her cry, although she only cried alone, because she wanted to stop saying goodbye, but she knew she couldn't.

She was tired of it, however. And she wanted things to go right for once in her life. So she was done with being the Goodbye Summers.

Buffy knocked on Jack's door, taking a deep breath as it opened. He stared at her in surprise.

"Hello."
