Just a short drabble that popped into my mind and now I cant get it out. No flames, please, because flames aren't very edible. Whee! Before the Uzumaki-Gaara fight. : D

At night, Temari cries. She knows she fails as an older sister. She wants her brothers to see her as a role model. She knows life will go on when she is gone. But who will take care of them? They would fall even farther apart. Kankurou would probably leave Gaara. And Gaara? Who knows. He'd probably kill, as usual. But in the end, would they forget her? Would they forget their only sister? Would she slip from their memories and love like their mother? She loves her mother, and misses her dearly. What would it be like if Gaara had not had Shukaku put into him? What if their mother had not died? What if their father hadn't gone out for power? What if they were all happy? What if? She tries to make her brothers learn to love, but she knows it wont happen. She wants to be a real family. A normal family. She knows that it will never happen. She cries herself to sleep and dreams dreams of the family she'll never have.

At night, Kankurou cries. He knows he fails as a older brother. He's distant with his older sister and afraid of his younger brother. But he has to be strong, always strong. After all, he's the man of the family. What would they do without him? Gaara probably wouldn't care. Temari? She would have to be strong. Would Gaara just finish her off if she was sad? Probably. Gaara hates weakness. Would they miss him? Temari maybe. But not for long. In the end, life would go on as usual, without him. He wants them to be a real family. He wants to be able to laugh with them. He wants to be able to make them smile, especially Gaara. Would they drift even farther apart? Would they all forget him...? He cries himself to sleep and dreams dreams of the family he wished he had.

At night, Gaara wonders. He knows he can't cry anymore. He'd given up on mourning ever since he killed Yashamaru. But he wonders. What if he died? He knew that was nearly impossible, the tanuki Shukaku wanted to keep him alive as long as possible. But truly, if he died, what would happen? Would they miss him? Hardly. Who would miss the person that caused you pain all your life, who continually threatened you to death, killed your mother without remorse... Killed the only person important to him. But that's not true. They are important to him, though they don't know and he'll never tell. Inside, he knows they've been there for him even though they think of him as only a killing machine. But do they? Sometimes he thinks that they think of him as their sibling. He wishes, from the bottom of his heart, for them to become a family. But it will never happen, will it? He wants it more than anything else. To be accepted. To have someone to be proud of him, to love him. But he knows it will never happen. He stays on the roof till sunrise, listening to his siblings cry softly while thinking of the family he never had.
