They tell me I'm a hero now
People can pick me out of a crowd
People now see me as a celebrity
I fought for my country, my loved ones and friends
No thought of glory or fame
I just did my job to the end
I did nothing special, just what had to be done
I worked hard until the war was won
But I'm no hero, I'm a soldier
Now I'm told I did great deeds
"You're a hero" they say
But I do not agree
Hush, listen and maybe you'll see
That the real heroes…
Are the boys buried overseas
