It is the sadness and the numbness
that dries you up.
Little poems written on yellowed parchment
are like dried rose buds and scented candles.
My hands are fumbling to your waist
and my fingers graze your smooth skin.
Your lips are soft and petal pink
and your hair is silky behind your shoulders.
How tenderly I hold you like a glass butterfly.
How tenderly I touch you as if you would break.
I am here beside you like ice, like stone,
impenetrable and unmovable
...and to some unlovable.
How is it that you found love in me?
Someone so light and pure dwelling
with the wintery ice?
Do I cut your palms when you touch my face?
Do I shatter you like a mirror?
Simple metaphors and simple words
it may seem, but here I lie with you.
Cling onto me my sweet, for your
other lovers have deserted you.
Cling onto me for warmth
like sky to the sun.
I am holding you and my ice is
melting like a puddle on the floor.
I simply need you,
it hurts to breathe without you.
With the others you only cried,
with me you'll say no more good byes
and have no more broken hearts.
You love me because I can hold you right.
You love me because I can kiss you right.
You love me because I can love you right.
Strange...
