Author's Note: Another Al fic… & I'm going to warn you right now, THIS ONE IS VERY DEPRESSING. I actually wrote the rough draft during one of my classes last week. I don't know where I got the idea for it… considering I wasn't even depressed at the time. Weird. Anyway.
FMA & all characters are © Hiromu Arakawa & Square-Enix.
The title is taken from a song title from Silent Hill 3.
You're Not Here

"Winry, where did brother go?"
She stopped in her tracks, forgetting what she was doing completely. Remorse filled her, and she felt as though a bullet had pierced her heart. Al hadn't asked her this question in nearly a year now. In fact, that last time he had asked her was after he had been found. Has he been asking other people?
"Al… you've asked this question before." Winry sighed. I guess we've all been trying to avoid this question.
"Nobody ever told me, though," he said, sadness mixed with anger in his voice. "It's always 'We'll tell you later, Al.,' or 'Not right now, Al'. You know something, don't you?"

"I…" She said, a little fearfully. "I honestly don't know. I really wish I could tell you." She couldn't think of anything more to say, and felt hurt even having to say that. She simply walked out side, leaving Al by himself.
"Brother…" Al said quietly. There's an empty spot in my memories, isn't there? Why are you gone? Why am I here?
An overwhelming feeling of depression rushed over him. In his mind, he felt a sudden dread. You're not coming back, are you? Nausea rushed over him as well.
Getting up, he began to wander around the room, aimlessly. He had a hard time digesting the fact that his only family was now gone. As he wandered, thoughtless, a shiny object in the nearby drawer caught his eye. He walked over to it, and picked it up. Studying it for a moment, he figured he had only one option.
"Brother, I'm coming to meet you."
He raised the object to his head with one hand, and then pulled the trigger.
Bang.
And suddenly, he found himself rushing towards a large, golden gate…
