Timeline: Starts November 7, 1989 and continues through March 1989; Both the Agency and the Family think Lee and Amanda are only engaged; using the ages given in the first season Jamie is 14 and a Freshman in High School.

Tuesday, November 7, 1989  the King Household

The annoying beep of the alarm clock caused an arm to suddenly flop about in hopes of finding that magical button which would allow for more sleep. Hitting the snooze button did little good; no sooner had he hit the snooze button than his mother was knocking at his door. "Jamie get up!" Jamie slowly rolled out of bed and sleepily got ready for school. He grabbed his full backpack and cleaned his glasses on his shirt as he left the room.

"Lee coming to dinner tonight, Mom?" Jamie heard his older brother Philip ask as he walked into the kitchen. Jamie hoped Lee would come that night. He liked his mother's fiancé and needed some help with his Geography project.

Jamie piped up, "Make sure he comes tonight mom! I have some questions for him on Germany!"

"Yes, Philip, Lee is planning on coming, but Jamie don't get your hopes up on those answers. He's not a walking encyclopedia." Amanda answered her boys.

"Mom!" Jamie rolled his eyes. "He always helps me with geography! Lee knows everything!" Amanda laughed as she ushered the boys out the door to catch the bus.

Later the same day  Jamie's homeroom

"Jamie, can I see you for a second?" asked his homeroom teacher, Mrs. Curtis. Mrs. Curtis was one of Jamie's favorite people in high school. She was head of the photography club and was extremely supportive of Jamie's work.

"Yes ma'm?"

"Jamie I just got this flyer about Georgetown's annual Washington DC area high school photography contest. The contest is held in March, so you'll have plenty of time to prepare. Each student who enters the contest is required to submit about 50 photos. There has to be a theme that ties the pictures together and a brief explanation of your theme." Mrs. Curtis paused and looked at young freshman before continuing, "Now Jamie I know it's going to be a lot of work, but I think you can do it. What do you think?" She handed a now very excited Jamie the informational flyer.

"I think I can do it! I won't let you down!" Mrs. Curtis just smiled.

Same day  After School

Jamie ran immediately up to his room after getting home. He was eager to get his homework done so that he could begin his photography contest entry. Setting aside his geography project outline for later, Jamie began his math homework. An hour later he found himself still stuck on his math homework. Maybe Lee can help me with this too, he thought. Pushing his math aside he pulled out the information and entry sheet for the photo contest. Jamie carefully read the rules and guidelines for the contest, and then read over the information a second time to make sure he understood everything. Jamie then lost himself in his photo albums trying to decide on a theme for an entry.

Jamie didn't hear the door open to his room later that evening and was so absorbed in his photos that he didn't notice that anyone had entered his room until he heard his mother's soft laughter. Jamie looked up and smiled. "Come on Jamie, Lee's here and dinner is ready" she said as she turned to leave.
