This is written as a 500 word drabble thingymabobity for a Christmas theme I saw on a website that I can't actually find again atm , I'm not going to enter it cos it's well…fluffier than the cotton wool snow I made today my job is so hard :P, but I might write another if I can call my muse back from it's extended Christmas holiday to the Bermuda Triangle. But anyway, yes – enough procrastinating – I must actually go work now…
Lettuce Snow
"Lettuce snow, lettuce snow, lettuce snow!"
Rebecca beamed as the grown ups around her started to laugh, unsure exactly what it was she'd done, but sure it must be good. "T'nkoo!" She beamed, clapping herself.
"See she's the shy retiring type," Mickey smirked at Charlie who was beaming proudly. "Just like her mother."
Charlie's eyebrow raised and she slapped Mickey's arm gently, settling Rebecca back ontop of the desk. "Want to do another?" She asked, grinning as Rebecca nodded, cackling. "Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells…"
"Dingle all da waaaaaaays, oh'd what funned it is to riiiiiiide ona one'd horsed open sleeeeeeeigh!"
"I know that voice…" Gina's voice rose over Rebecca's, stopping her mid-song, the crowd parting to let her through.
"NANA!" Rebecca dropped her woollen hat, launching into Gina's arms for a cuddle.
"Using her to beg now?" Gina asked dryly, gently bouncing Rebecca.
"She brings in a damn good wage." Charlie smirked, "Better than-"
"Charlotte!"
"Ma'am." Charlie finished, chuckling to herself.
"Learned new songs, nana!" Rebecca patted Gina's arm, looking up at her. "Santa songs!" She beamed and launched into another, before anyone could stop her, "Rudolph da red nosed reindeeeeeeer, had'ed a very tiny noooooose, and if you ever saw'd it, you would even say his nose!"
"New station mascot, Ma'am," Tony chuckled softly, grinning as Rebecca waved at him, gently wiggling her arm. "She could replace that." He nodded at the sensor activated singing santa on Charlie's desk.
"He's not that bad!" Charlie pouted, gently taking Rebecca back, "He amuses the kids…"
"And annoys the hell out of the rest of us!" Mickey smirked.
"Why do you think I keep him?" Charlie smirked sadistically in response.
"Dadadadaaaaaa!" Rebecca crowed, resting against her fathers chest as he tried to continue working with her on his lap, "Daaa!"
"Becca, please…"
"Froggie da snowmen was a very happy…" She trailed off and frowned. "Daddy?"
"Soul."
"Sole'd!"
"Time for bed young lady…"
"No!" Rebecca gasped. "Santa song!"
"You can sing them upstairs." Charlie opened her arms to lift Rebecca up. "But daddy's working, and Becca's tired."
"I not." Rebecca pouted, shaking her head.
"You still need your rest!" Charlie insisted, lifting her up, ignoring the shriek and grab attempt at Smithy. "Stop it!"
"Daaaa!" Rebecca sniffled, trying to crawl over Charlie's shoulder. "Daaaa!"
"I'll put the tape on for you if you stay in bed…"
Rebecca instantly stopped sniffling and eyed off her mother, before nodding slowly. "Away in a manger, no Chris for a bed, da little lord jeeeeeezud lay do-ooowned his head."
"Nursery has a lot to answer for." Smithy glanced up and cocked an eyebrow.
"She's excited." Charlie chuckled and kissed Rebecca's cheek, turning to carry her up the stairs.
"Santa coming, daddy!" Rebecca called back, a cackle following as Charlie blew a raspberry on her cheek.
"How could I forget?" Smithy muttered and rolled his eyes, turning the page as he continued his work.
