Hello! I had this written out a long time ago, and just now found it, so I thought I'd throw it up here and see what you all think of it. I'm not much for poems myself, and I don't think many people are. All I ask is that if you really don't like it, just don't review it, okay? In other words, no flames! I'd appreciate any advice you could give me on writing better poems, though, and any praise you can muster is always accepted! With that said, enjoy!

In the wake of the storm, the tears of sorrow flowed
So strongly these tears flowed they created a river,
A river of regrets that no man tried to slow
The men ignored the river, for it got no bigger.
As the days tolled on, the grief and pain of men added to the water
The men denied the river's existence, and continued to live on in eternal pain
Everything made the river overflow; the stealing, lies, and slaughter
Yet, the men had become numb and so they remained the same.
The land that the water flowed onto became barren and dry
The men finally woke up, and noticed the river, but it was too late
They couldn't stop the flow of the river, hard as they may try;
It seemed their ignorance had sealed their fate.
Then, one day, a man clad in red appeared
He fought through the grief and regrets of the land
Once the doomed men saw him, their vision cleared,
And they joined together to take a stand.
The river of regret dried up, and washed away
The men moved on; finally able to face their losses, and cope
The man in red filled their land with the rivers of yesterday
When asked his name, he simply replied, "I am Hope."

Well, there it is, love it or hate it. I know it's kind of short, but poems aren't meant to be all that long, are they? Well, except for, like, the Illiad, but I'm not here to write an epic! Anyway, I'll shut up and go back to do what I do best, which is not writing poems! Review, please, if you would be so kind!
