![]() Author has written 6 stories for Steven Universe, Monster Hunter, RWBY, Hilda, and Owl House. Hey! This is ThatRollingStone, nice to meet you. I'm a fanfiction writer and am in college for English at the moment. I've been writing since I was a kid and have enjoyed challenging my readers. I wish to become a better writer at every turn and want to write cohesive and intelligent plot structures. I also want to stand out from traditional fanfiction and show people that fanfiction can create a world on its own, though it's based on someone else's work. I want my readers to look beyond the most simple definition of a word and a text. And when I say that, I mean that I want my stories to express emotion on multiple levels, not just in the form of the words but what can be associated with the collection of it all. If I ever write something that resonates with you - both good and bad, please review! I'll take criticism from anyone and will try my best to address whatever constructive criticism a reviewer may have. And if there's something that you find good or interesting, I'll try my best to create that feeling as much as possible. He fights against monsters both in his external world and his internal world. His mind is split in two, one driven by his suffering and the other by his morale. I began writing this story as a drawer fic (a story mainly written for fun and not to be shared) during middle school, originally called, Hunt or Bust. I decided to rewrite it and post it on a separate account a year after I finished writing about twelve chapters (with footnotes and all). I renamed it (I think I called it Hunters, Monsters, Grimm, and Demons or something like that), posted it, and wrote three chapters. It was very similar to The Demon Hunter in that it had the same main character and starting point. The difference was that it had a much more climactic opening where the main character went to fight a monster atop an airship. I stopped writing after there were only a few views and deleted it sometime after. Then I wrote a new opening on a whim and posted it. I got more views than I had ever gotten in my entire two years on the site. This inspired me to continue writing until I hit a major block in the form of chapter 10 where I had a large block of text that I knew was going to be difficult to write. I stopped writing it again, but after renewed interest in the story, I will be revisiting it with two new chapters to replace chapter 6. The Marra Migration (Hilda Netflix Series): A supernatural tale of marra and mages (Marra being a combination of the role of the Sandman with the physical properties of ghosts and mages) in the small town of Trolberg. This story is dissimilar to The Demon Hunter in that there are multiple characters with equal importance. This was my first finished story. I came up with the original story after reading a bunch of things for school projects. The first was Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky, the second was In the Time of The Butterflies by Julia Alvarez, the third was Julius Caesar by Shakespeare, and lastly Night by Elie Wiesel. I wrote an outline for a long novel that I called Guardian. One of the principal characters in that story soon became one of the main characters in The Marra Migration. The original novel is still sitting in my notebook, but the idea soon morphed into a multi-part fanfiction. Part one of which is this story. The series went in this order: An introduction to this AU with the first part, a second part with more interesting themes, and retaining an episodic quality, the third giving some spotlight to a severely underrated character, and the fourth being a prelude to a big climax. The Marra Migration was inspired partially by another fanfiction Your Own Massive Nightmare. The long, descriptive prose and very scary story style inspired me to use symbolism for the first time. I hope this will be returning soon with the second part where we get into more of the character's backstory. Before the Fire Comes (The Owl House): A tale of trauma and recovery in a blend of Bildungsroman and Isekai, told by the main character who will only speak every blue moon. The distinctive element of this story is the main character's trauma and how it affects the narrative. It is at times self-reflexive and meta, but I hope it portrays an amount of depth unseen in my previous writings. This story came from a burst of inspiration after I read Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, The Ancient Child by N. Scott Momaday, The Autobiography of An Ex-Colored Man by James Weldon Johnson, and Black Boy by Richard Wright. This one is inspired by a lot, actually. This story pulls out all the stops. In the process of writing this story, I began trying out some new approaches to writing. I've started trying nonlinear styles like Vonnegut and the impressionistic style of Momaday. I was also motivated by the upward trend of OCs in the Owl House fandom. A lot of them have been interesting, but I found a lot more archetypal. Male OC falls in love with someone or many of the main cast, follows canon down to the T, with a single gimmick as the thing that keeps it remotely interesting (This is just a mild nitpick. An archetypal main character doesn't detach from the actual story. My only problem is a pack of originality between the multiple examples of this). This was what happened when I first wrote The Demon Hunter in my notebooks and I mitigated this effect with flashbacks to add a new perspective. I've done something similar in this story, though there is much more to that now, I think. This one feels a lot more smoothed over and deliberate than The Demon Hunter with the right amount of spontaneity and outlined plot. Though this is a breakdown of the tropes that make up most male OC stories, is also an homage to them. For example, while the opening takes from Black Boy by Richard Wright, it is very similar to the main character from The Seventh Son by Cowboy Alchemist. In many ways, I hope this fic pays tribute to the Owl House community and challenges them to do different things. I plan on writing more of it and nearly have Chapter two finished. I have the first few chapters planned out, but I want to leave the rest open for different ideas. My minor works: (Up for adoption) Ryder's Adventure (Steven Universe): A story which I started when I drew it out as a comic and then transformed into my favorite drawer fic of them all. Started with the idea of the generation after the original series a post-apocalyptic world where the majority of people on earth were either killed or severely ill. Our main character lives in an underground society to escape the horrors of the land above, but after finding a journal hidden from him of his father's great, epic quests he follows the same path his father went down to save the world. In the journal, he finds that he has a younger sister who was taken by one of the few actual societies that weren't destroyed by the apocalypse. He starts the series by searching for her. I wrote this in middle school after season 2 of Steven Universe came out. Originally this story was the second story in an alternate universe where Steven Universe was killed and sent into his gem and spent years of training with his mother. He grew up and came out of his gem to find the world had gone to shit. I had an outline for that series that went something like this: Part 1 - Steven's training to become the world's ultimate savior. Unnamed Crossover (RWBY & Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood): Simply a crossover between FMA and RWBY that would mix both versions of canon into an amalgamation. We would hit the major milestones of the series and have an epic finale. I wrote a mini-chapter on my profile and left it for a while, however, the outline fell through and I ended up feeling foolish—PM for written drafts. (Not Up for Adoption) Outliers (RWBY): Team of OCs in RWBY, gives background characters some of the limelight, new villains, and various other things. WIP. The Great War (formerly named The Unmerciful Diamond) (Steven Universe): Initially a 12 chapter story about the origins of Pink Diamond and how the Diamonds came to power but spread into a long series about an OC named Spinel (before the movie came out, currently being renamed) and how they become Pink Diamond's general and their relationship between the other diamonds and their ambassadors. It grew way too big and now I'm currently trying to cut it down to its barest bones. I also planned it to be a trilogy with the next part being... The Rebel's Return (Steven Universe): Taking place during the first series, this is about the group that Pink Diamond had created to fight back against the forces trying to take over the earth, including Spinel (again, before the movie came out, currently being renamed) and some familiar faces from the last part of the trilogy. This is the Diamonds making their final attack on the earth coming in three waves. My favorite part of the trilogy. The Diamond Project (Steven Universe): Partially inspired by the Just Another Stone by XWolf26 and named after a short story I wrote in middle school. The finale of the trilogy, where the rebels make their last stand. People die, character arcs end, and all of it ends here. |
