Companion piece (NOT sequel) to "Thunderstorm". You don't need to read it if you haven't (cough).

Again, Marc Cherry is the DH god so it's all his. Yea. Reviews are greatly appreciated and rewarded with uhh...well I'll think of something.

--------------------------------------

It was a radiant day on Wisteria Lane. Birds visited their nests, children played in the street, flowers swung in the breeze, and the sun enveloped the quiet suburban town of Fairview in a warm bubble of light. It was a picture-perfect day. Not surprisingly, this picture-perfect day was being matched with an equally picture-perfectly happy resident. Lynette Scavo was celebrating this rare day she had to herself. Tom had taken the kids out for the day, so that meant peace and quiet for Lynette. And she intended to take full advantage of it on this beautiful day.

Collapsing onto the hammock, Lynette brought her long legs up and stretched them out in front of her body. Sipping the margarita she held in her left hand, she flipped open the newspaper on her lap with her right. Half a paragraph into the business section, she became slightly aware of a figure standing over her. And not just any figure, but a very familiar, female figure.

"Hey, Bree."

The redhead slid her arms around her shoulders and pecked her on the cheek. "How are you, honey?"

"Fine. Tired. Relaxed. What are you doing here? I thought you were going to go visit Andrew."

Bree laughed as she carefully sat herself on the edge of the hammock. "Yes well, considering the location of my son and his recent behavior, I'm not even going to merit him with a visit."

"Mmmm." Lynette had zoned out already and was sniffing the light flowery perfume scent coming from Bree's direction. "You smell nice."

"Do I?"

Lynette took another sniff. "Yes."

Bree smiled down at her friend. Lynette looked so beautiful and relaxed, no makeup on, blonde hair pulled back, drink in her hand, sun shining down on her face, and no kids or business contracts in tow. "Can I join you?"

The blonde's eyes flew open, and Bree was entranced by the brightness of the blue. "What!"

"Lynette calm down, I meant can I enjoy this beautiful day with you. You look so relaxed that you're going to conk out any second."

"Oh! Sure. Sure." She budged over a bit, making room for her friend, dropping the newspaper in the process.

Bree kicked off her heels and stretched out next to her. The heat of the sun warmed her face, making her understand Lynette's comfort. She turned to face her friend, and green met blue as their eyes connected.

"Bree?"

"Yes?"

"Can I kiss you?"

The bluntness of this question shocked Bree. Not because of the content of it, but because it was the question she herself had been wanting to ask for months.

"I don't see why you can't."

Her mouth had spoken her heart's wish but her head was screaming at her. She wasn't supposed to be happy. Rex was gone, George was gone, Bree had nothing left. But Lynette made her feel…comfortable.

Lynette placed her lips onto Bree's, and the two women shared their feelings, desires, and wants for each other for all these years. The passion for the both of them was even greater than anything Tom, Rex, or George had shown.

Yes, it was a very beautiful day indeed.
