Chapter 1: Stuck in Frankfurt
by Zzilly14
Buffy sat at Gate A38, checking her watch about every five minutes. Her evening was not going as planned.
"I hate this airport," she muttered.
The Chosen One was on her way to Rome via Frankfurt, and since her plane in London left late, she missed her connecting flight. She had called Giles to complain about her situation, and he booked her on the next flight to the Italian capital – three hours later.
And so the Slayer sat with nothing to do. Most of the shops were closed, as it was now nearing midnight. And her iPod was accidentally left in the top drawer of the dresser in Giles' guest room.
"I can't believe I forgot my iPod," Buffy said with a sigh.
The airport was pretty much empty except for the occasional worker zooming by on a bike. This amused the Slayer and for some reason reminded her of Xander.
Buffy was contemplating calling Xander on his cell to vent her frustrations when she happened to glance up from her phone. A young man dressed in all black was walking by with a look of hungry determination in his green eyes.
"Why do they have to be everywhere?" she grumbled as she stood up, before following the suspicious figure. "Can't I ever get a day off?"
The vampire was walking faster, using the moving walkways. Buffy also walked faster, making sure her stake was within easy reach in her small brown purse.
Suddenly the vampire turned his head around and glared at Buffy, his eyes flashing yellow, before he broke into a run.
"Stop!" Buffy yelled. "Stop!" A couple of random workers stared while the Slayer chased the man. She noticed their apathy and she rolled her eyes.
Buffy was gaining on the vamp, and finally she leapt onto him, causing him to fall.
"You vamps never learn," she said, pointing the stake at his chest.
"Slayer," he hissed in a German accent.
"So, what's the deal? Are airports the new vampire hangout?"
"I'm on business."
"Business?" she laughed. "I thought sucking blood was more of a pleasure thing for you guys."
"The Immortal will not be pleased," he replied angrily.
"Hold the phone… who's the Immortal?"
