I'm turning into one of those author's that gives hope..oh no. haha. Written in a sudden burst of inspiration. Hope you like.
Hermione is sure where it started, or when it started. All she knows is when it happened, what happened, and now, here she stood holding the crumpled piece of parchment in her right hand, which was clenched tightly around it. The parchment felt rough underneath her fingers. That wasn't news to her, everything in her life was rough, everything felt rough.
"I'm sorry." She had written. Sorry. That's all she had read time and time again. Ginny never knew how to apologize to her face. Never knew what those meant on parchment, because on parchment, to Hermione, they meant nothing. They weren't real. I'm sorry is not meant to be written on parchment.
It had been the same. It had always been her apologizing, always was her making the mistakes and Hermione stuck around. Because, after all, she did apologize, even if it was always on small bits of parchment, or through a bouqet of her favorite flowers. She apolgized.
Now, here she stood, still holding the crumpled piece of parchment where the words,"I'm sorry, but I have to leave. Goodbye." So there it was, after Hermione had stuck it out, Ginny had said goodbye. Goodbye's were forever. Goodbye's were never ending. Harry said goodbye right before he was killed, Ron said goodbye when he found out she was dating his younger sister. Fleur had said goodbye when she realized she didn't truly love Hermione and that she was just fooling herself. Her father told her mother goodbye. It was an endless cycle of goodbye's, goodbye's from people that never returned.
That meant Ginny would never return. She'd be added to the list of people that continously left and never ventured into Hermione's life again. But Ginny had written it on paper, all the others had said it to her face, said goodbye and she knew it was real. Knew they had meant it. Holding onto the piece of parchment with her words, meant she was still holding onto Ginny, because goodbye's aren't meant to be written. They're meant to be said. So maybe, Ginny is still holding on to.
