A Love Unfolding
Harry sat quietly, waiting for the world to end. Voldemort had been rampaging more and more, killing anybody who stood in his way towards his goal of destroying Harry.
The world was about to end, that's what Harry knew. He had felt it throughout his whole body for the last little while, and he felt like all he needed to distract him was a little oblivion. As he looked around the common room, he saw all his friends chatting merrily. Maybe the world wasn't going to end for them, but he knew that it would be for him. Either his life, or Voldemorts would soon be ended.
The clock, so close to striking midnight on New Years eve was making his mind wander. Ginny was chatting with Dean, and kissed him. It made Harry a little jealous, seeing as how they had been together the previous year, if only for a little while.
Sitting right next to him, but oh so far away were Hermione, and Ron. They had finally seen what was right beneath their noses, and fallen heavily for each other the summer before seventh year. Harry smiled briefly at both of them, even though for most of the year they had appeared impervious to him.
One person however was alone, just like Harry felt. Luna was off in a far corner of the common room. How she had entered the common room was beyond Harry, but he felt for her. She was feeling his pain, as he was feeling hers. They had both lost people who had been close to them, as had many of the people in this very common room.
He gave a quick glance over at Ron, and Hermione, and then noticing them just staring into each others eyes, he crept towards Luna. What he saw when he was there was enough to tear his heart right out of his chest. She wasn't alone because noone wanted to be around her, as was usually the case, since she was usually called Loony, it's because that's what she chose. Tears flowed freely down her face, a sign of some big emotional storm going through her at the time.
She looked up, and saw him kneeling next to her. She tried to brush away the tears, not wanting to let Harry see her so vulnerable, but he quickly stopped her hand, as he wiped the tears away. He had never realized how truly beautiful she was.
"Are you okay, Luna?" he whispered to her, not knowing what she might say.
"I am anything but okay," she told him, and the tears started flowing again.
"Tell me about it, please," he asked her.
"My mother died this night, all that many years ago," she told him. "It usually takes a lot out of me this time of year.
"Would you like to be alone then?" he asked, secretly hoping that she would say no.
"No, please, just stay with me for a while," she pleaded.
The clock starting striking midnight. Everyone glanced expactantly over at Harry and Luna, as everyone had expected the two of them to be together. The glances they had been sharing were a dead give a way.
"I know this may not be a good time," Luna said, "but, can I kiss you?
"Only if you would like to. I don't want to pressure you.
As the final stroke happened, a kiss filled with so much passion rocked both of their bodies. Everything was right with the world tonight, Harry thought to himself, as did Luna.
