In this chapter Aang, Katara, and Sokka travel west from the North Pole to find Aang a teacher for Earthbending but on the way, they meet firebenders and face the most powerful machine know to the fire nation. The Lost Chronicles: Book 1: Chapter 1

Sokka: I'm bored, we've been sailing for days, we're right back where we're started.

Katara: We have no food and there are firebenders everywhere where we're going.

Sokka: Damn it.

Aang: Well they aren't chasing you, they're chasing me, but be careful, you don't know when...

Katara: LOOK!

They see a boy on a piece of wood floating on the ocean.

Aang: Who is he?

Sokka: LOOK!

They look beyond the boy and at a ship, a metal ship that was sinking, it was on fire, perhaps by firebenders the gang thought.

Katara: Let's get him out of there.

They go down and fly the boy towards a small island far off the Earth nation.

Boy: Where am I?

Katara: You're in the Earth Kingdom.

Boy: Get off me you water nation...

He looked at Katara in a surprised face.

Boy: I'm Jatari, a fire nation student, but I won't hurt you.

Aang: You're fire nation!

Jatari: You're the Avatar!

Aang: Now back off.

Jatari: I won't hurt you, I promise.

He gets on his knees and begs.

Aang: Well he can't be all bad now can he.

Katara: I guess not.

Sokka: Well I don't trust him.
