Chapter One
"Christmas!" A voice screamed in James' ear. He grunted and rolled over, not wanting to open his eyes. He knew if he did, the image would leave. He pulled the covers over his head to hide his smile. It took him a full 3 seconds to realize what he had just done. The covers pressed down on his face, meaning Sirius had just put a pillow on them. He struggled feebly, to tired to actually pose a threat.
"Ger' off me!" he yelled. Sliding his hands out from beneath the covers, he groped around for his wand. His fingers brushed the familiar wood and he prodded Sirius with it. Sirius let out a yelp as red sparks burst from the wand. James felt the pressure let off his face and he threw the pillow off. Ignoring his tired muscles, he jumped out of bed and held up his wand. "Don't do that again," he snapped at the figure lying on the ground.
"But it's Christmas!" Sirius whined. "And I hope you got me a present besides these burn marks." He indicated a nasty burn on his side where the wand had got him. James snorted and placed his wand back on his bedside table.
"Let's go." He walked down the stairs, ignoring Sirius comments about hospitals and burns. He found Remus and Lily already down in the common room, sitting in chairs and staring eagerly at the large amount of presents under the tree. It was a Christmas tradition that all the Maruaders had to be up, before presents could be open. In the blink of an eye, Sirius was next to the tree, searching for his presents. Remus was right behind him, while Lily continued sitting in the chair, staring at him with an open mouth. "What?" He asked. He looked down to realize that he wasn't wearing a shirt. His face grew hot and he shot back up to the dormitory. Quickly putting on his shirt, he checked to make sure all his other clothes were on. After assuring himself he was wearing the all holy pants, he headed back down to the common room, were wrapping paper was being thrown. He grinned foolishly as Sirius handed him a large stack of presents. Staggering under the weight, he carried them to the couch and threw them down. The top one was wrapped in bright green paper with the word 'Sirius' blinking in red. Ripping it open, he discovered a book titled, 'How to Get the Girl and Keep Her'. He threw the book down and promptly sat on in. Lily looked at him curiously, but said nothing. The next present was from Remus. He grinned as the silver stag ran across his hand. (AN: It's actually made of silver, not just the color)
"Thanks mate," Remus said, admiring the sliver werewolf that ran across his hand. They looked over at Sirius, who was laughing at Lily. In her hand was a large, 3D heart with scrawled handwriting, blinking brightly. James had to come closer to see what was written. 'Love, James'. James felt his jaw drop.
"I-I didn't send that," he stuttered.
Well. That's the first chapter. Hope you like it. And yes I know that it's a cliffhanger. I like cliffhangers. You'll find out who sent it later.
