Disclaimer: The usual apply. I own no part of Dark Angel. Yadda yadda yadda.

A/N: Takes place in a fictitious S3. If you don't recognise the lyrics, they're by TEXAS, a kickass Scottish band. Song shares my story's title. Or maybe the other way around.

Put your arms around me

By feekh

Are you ready maybe are you willing to run

Are you ready to let yourself drown

Are you holding your breath

Are you ready or not

Are you ready maybe

Do you long to confess

Do you feel that you're already numb

Are you sure of yourself

Would you lie if your not

This was perfect, Alec mused. Fate had finally taken pity on him and listened to his pleas, delivering the opportunity for revenge right to his front door, all wrapped up in a big pink bow.

You tie me up

don't want to let that happen

A secret scream so loud

Why did you let that happen?

Well not quite. Wrapped up in leather jeans, a bright blue tank top, hair piled up haphazardly, arms in soap water up the elbows and earphones in her ears. Very important minor detail that. It had allowed him to sneak into their flat without Max noticing.

So put your arms around me

You let me believe

That you were someone else

Cause only time can take you

So let me believe that I am someone else

Alec could only marvel. Manticore had created them to be perfect. Each and every one of them was the epitome of perfection, from the tips of their hair to the soles of their feet. From the sparkle in their eyes to the easy flow of their voice.

Maybe are you ready to pray

Do you think that I push you too far

Would you open yourself

Are you reckless or not

The only thing Manticore hadn't counted on was a transgenic with an alto timbre trying to sing soprano. It made for interesting listening.

You tie me up

don't want to let that happen

A secret scream so loud

Why did you let that happen?

He couldn't wait to tell Mole and Dix. Thank God he had picked up a mobile with film function the other day. Dix had ribbed him at the time, asking him what he intended to film with it. Mole had had a few suggestions, none of which Alec intended to pursue. But this! This was perfect. Moving ever so slowly, he pulled the mobile from his back pocket.

So put your arms around me

You let me believe

That you were someone else

Cause only time can take you

So let me believe that I am someone else

Then fate decided to throw a spanner in his works. Just as he was aiming the little camera at Max, she turned around. Alec froze, sure that now the end of his world had come. His personal Armageddon in the shape of a pint-size female.

So let me believe that I am somewhere else

Then he relaxed. Max's eyes were closed. A deep sigh was suppressed. Just as he was getting ready to try a second time, something struck him. Max was smiling. This happened so rarely, that it took him a second to see past it. Max actually looked relaxed. That was such a rare occurrence that Alec didn't have the heart to ruin it, even if only a couple of hours later, when Max returned to central and found out about his little prank. Turning quietly, Alec snuck out of the flat as quietly as he had snuck in.

Shalalala

Shalalala

Shalalala

So put your arms around me

You let me believe

That you were someone else

Cause only time can take you

So let me believe that I am someone else

In the kitchen of their shared flat, Max smiled to herself. She had sensed Alec as soon as he set foot on their floor, but trust had held her in place. She knew she couldn't sing Texas to save her life, but looking vulnerable or stupid in front of Alec didn't bother her anymore.

Take me take me

Somewhere

Somewhere

You let me believe

Cause only time can take you

So STOP!

THE END
