Disclaimer: Alright, I do not own any of the cast from Inuyasha. So what? Doesn't mean I can't have any fun, right?

Sesshomaru: No, you cannot have any fun.

Me: Waaah! Why not?

Sesshomaru: Because I said so.

Me: Authoritarian... anyway, I'll quickly get started on this. The characters that do not appear in the actual Inuyasha series are mine. You cannot have them! If you take them, I will hunt you down and gut you like a fish. Then I will kill you, dig you up, clone you, kill your clones and then never talk to you again.

Prologue

An infant's desperate wail echoed into the night. Little did the child know, her fate that would await her.
"Maikaze, what will you name your daughter?" was a man's voice.

The man was the infant's father, kneeling by the side of his wife. He was a fire demon, and a powerful one at that. His golden eyes, fiery red hair and strange symbol atop his forehead were all he had to show for it. The symbol was golden and consisted of a narrow upside down triangle between two small dots.

"Her name is Kotori." The woman responded.
The mother of the child had golden hair tied back with a ribbon. She was an avian demon, the sort that revolved around birds. Though her symbol was blue, much like her eyes. The symbol was simple: two dots next to each other on her forehead.

"Such a pretty name." The father cooed, softly brushing the smooth, fine hair on his daughter's head. Hair of which was the exact same color as his own. The child's frantic cries soon ceased as she gazed up at the man with curious green eyes.

"Ichigo, she hasn't a symbol." Maikaze said worriedly.

Ichigo looked at the girl's forehead and frowned. His wife was right, there was nothing. A giggle escaped the babe's mouth as she reached out to her father. His heart melted like ice on the sun as tears reached his eyes.

"Ichigo! We must seal it away!" Maikaze said urgently, her ears picking up the sound hostile humans who had undoubtedly followed them.

Ichigo sighed, "Very well."

A sudden burst of red and blue light created a green demonic charter mark on the child's forehead. A powerful binding spell marked as an upside down triangle within two small circles. The child's eyes drooped as if succumbing to slumber.

"This is own chance, Maikaze. Can you walk?" Ichigo asked with concern.

Maikaze nodded and rose to her feet, infant nestled snuggly in her arms. Though both parents fled, they knew that the seal upon their daughter would shorten their lives exponentially. Yet it was the only way they could protect her from the cruelty of humanity.
