Note: This is my first CSI drabble (I wrote others for Alias and Third Watch before though). It was written for the CSI Drabble community on LiveJournal (challenge #18—family)
He was with her when the doctor first told her the news—that the lump within her was positive for cancer.
She looked to him, her composure crumbling. With trembling hands she reached out for him-- her brother, her strength.
He looked up from his cell phone (yet another missed call from H), only to be pinned by her eyes.
Eyes so full of fear and sadness.
His breath caught and he fought to keep his emotions at bay.
He had to be the strong one. He had to be
"Marisol." He whispered, walking over to her. "Everything will be okay."
He wrapped her in his arms as she sobbed.
His looked to the doctor, hoping that everything would in fact be okay, but the doctor gave nothing way.
"Don't worry about anything, you hear me. I'll take care of you" He whispered in her ear. I'll take care of you…
… He would do anything for her, no matter what the consequence was (even buy drugs).
Saying a silent prayer he sighed and walked to the idle car.
There was no turning back.
Not now.
