The Gift of Love
Brooke
When all is lost, where do you turn to? When there is nothing left to lose, will you find something good? On a cloudy day, is it possible to really see that silver lining?
Brooke Davis walked down the deserted street, her hands tucked firmly in her hip-huggers. If only she were able to tell Lucas how she really felt. If only she could see him one last time and tell him how much he meant to her. If only- Who was she kidding? After Rachel was brought into the picture, Lucas Scott was constantly on her mind. Yesterday's arguement brought tears to Brooke's eyes as her mind replayed the story.
"You slept with Chris Keller?" Lucas shouted, a hint of exhaustion in his voice.
"I was drunk! Why don't you understand that?" Brooke was furious. How could Lucas not understand?
"I thought this was just a joke, Brooke. I thought we were actually going to end up together! I thought-" Lucas was now quieter, lost in his own thoughts.
"You thought what? That I was going to be your little fairy-tale princess? That we were going to end up happily ever after?" Brooke screamed back at him.
"Yeah, I did..." Lucas whispered.
"Well, life sucks." Brooke slammed the door in Lucas' face, shaken by her sudden outburst of anger.
Why did she do the things she did? Why couldn't she have explained to Lucas. Lucas Scott was her heart, body, and soul. She had been crushing on him since she first laid eyes on him. The fit body, the great personality, sense of humor, charming looks. Lucas Scott was everything, and after the arguement, he was nothing. Brooke had cried in her room all weekend, wishing she hadn't said the things she did. Would Lucas ever forgive her? Maybe she would talk to Peyton. She always seemed to know what to say.
Lucas
Brooke Davis was the most complicated person in the entire world. Nothing could get past her. Lucas could barely stand the way she had yelled at him for loving her. He couldn't stand the gut-wrenching ability she had to make him so jealous. Chris Keller? Of all people to get drunk with, it had to be him. Wny couldn't Brooke just refuse the drinks? Why couldn't she just walk away? So many questions tore at Lucas' heart, leaving him disappointed. His porch swing rocked back and forth as he brought his hands behind his head. A small black spider made its way to the overhead curtain, weaving its web, back and forth, back and forth...
"Hey there sexy." Peyton jogged up the front steps.
"Hey." Lucas replied smugly.
"What's wrong? Don't tell me, girl problems." Peyton chuckled as she sat down next to Lucas.
"It's nothing, why are you here?" Lucas said, a puzzled look on his face.
"Well, don't get mad, but, Brooke wanted me to talk to you." Peyton's shoulders formed into a shrug.
"Brooke sent you here?" Lucas was enraged, how could she do this?
"Look, Luke, maybe you should just talk to her." Peyton suggested. Maybe this was the wrong thing to do.
"No, Peyton, maybe you should go." Lucas said, walking gloomily into the house.
Peyton left without another word, walking down the sidewalk with a disappointed scowl across her thin face.
Lucas stood at his dresser and pulled open a drawer. Inside was a small bottle of pills, prescribed especially for Lucas from the very much disliked Dan Scott. He twisted the cap off and swallowed a pill. All this stress was too much. Nothing a little pill couldn't handle, right? Let's just say, Lucas was wrong. All this stress would lead him to no good.
